Amber kicked Rob's ass. Rob is a jerk.
You say this as if you think it is not true.

Natalie wasn't boring. Just because they chose to make Samoa the Russell with a side of Shambo show doesn't mean the 18 other players were dull. It
just means they were ignored by the editors, who have become completely single-minded in regards to character development since Tocantins (aka the Coach show).
Russell/Shambo would have been considered "boring" as well if they were shown as much as Natalie was.

VA, I do believe it, but don't buy the Nat =/= Amber argument...

OK, fair enough.
If Amber had refused Rob's proposal, or if we ever once saw her articulate her strategy on the show itself, then I'd view them in a more similar light. As things stand, I find it impossible to evaluate Amber's play. Was she playing the same game Natalie played? I honestly don't know. Maybe she was, and maybe she wasn't. It's not as if we were ever shown a confessional in which she articulated her strategy of playing Rob like a fiddle so that she could have an abrasive goat to sit beside in the finals. We were shown such a confessional from Natalie. Personally, I like to think that Amber was playing, just because it's far less depressing that way. But unlike with Natalie, we were never actually shown any evidence of it. |

But wait...Russell hogged the airtime. We saw nothing of anyone other than Russell and Shambo... When you put your eggs into the ever so fragile "I booted
Erik" basket and "I picked the right person to coattail all the way" basket, its easier for you to find comfort in what you didn't see, and
hope that there was something that missed airtime that validates your impression that Nat > Amber.

What? We did see Natalie articulate her strategy. It was one of the five or six or so confessionals she got the entire season, but at least - unlike
with Amber - it was there. Although, to be fair, I can certainly understand if you missed it. You might have been blinking or something.
Seriously, can we at least agree that this was the worst edited season of all time? A cage full of encephalitic monkeys could have forged a better narrative. |

No to the editing question, because they brought in even MORE viewers this season, and so, did a hell of a job with an aging show.

Yeah the Russell edit was building him up for a fall, which they knew was coming. I don't think they expected the backlash at the goat they attempted to
make him tho...

Whatever happened to creating a story on Survivor? Really.
Now adays if you are nice you get no time. Like WTF? What happened to the days where the nice person got equal screentime , that was their role...the nice guy. Seriously, what about 16 people from different walks of life? Natalie could have easily got a better edit, the little blonde who is unsure at first but develops over time Brett the Galu leader (the opposition of Russell) who had Galu around his finger much like Russell (well he thinks he did) who had Foa Foa. Their stories meet and end in a final 4 show off. Brett was a solid player turned underdog and into fan fave. Seriously there could have been an amazing story in Samao, but it was wasted over one player. |

Under today's Survivor editing methods, Colleen and Elisabeth would have got UTR/INV edits.

Man do I hate what the editing has become. Someone please go in and re edit Tocantins and Samoa. Thanks. I would love to see a re edited version of both. |

I have to say, Im so fucking happy Natalie is giving it back to Russell in their co-interviews. I expected her to just let him ramble on and on and not say
anything, but shes fighting back and rubbing it in, pissing him off even more. I fucking love it

Gabon is the last season that was edited semi-well. But you know you have a problem when your runner-up is the most ignored character in the season.

Why does Russell keep saying he had a social game and using his "control" over his alliance as an example?
That's not what people mean when they say "social game". Social game is running the people not in your alliance out of the game, yet still treating them as people and stroking their egos so that, while they may be mad that they lost, they won't necessarily be mad AT YOU. You know, "hate the game not the player"? They hated Russell the player, and they hated his game. They liked Natalie the player, AND hated HER game. So, if the jury hates both of their games, how do they chose a winner? By choosing the player they don't hate. Just look at how condescending he was to Mick and Natalie on the final day. If either of them had ended up on the jury, I don't know that they would have voted for him. Russell played the strategy game hard, but he didn't play the rest of it well. Outwit, outplay, and outlast applies to all aspects of the game. |

Good post, alabama.
Russell was rude and disrespectful, which was totally unnecessary. So he did NOT outplay or outwit Natalie. |

Sometimes I think Russell H. is beyond a "recruit". Sometimes I think he's paid to be a troll and a sore loser, so CBS can generate huge amounts
of controversy over S19 and get back all of the audience Survivor lost from the early seasons.
Because nobody can be THAT self-centered and THAT pampered by the media. |
