he told the team he has heart issues and he had a cyst on his brain. i am pretty willing to believe that this is legit.

Yes, Cal hasn't been playing with heart for a long time now, and there's a huge disconnect between the coaches and the players. And, yes, Cal has bigger guys and more talent than Utah, but Utah has the better coaches. No doubt. |

I hope Urban Meyer is ok, definitely one of the best coaches ever...(I take that back if the real reason he's stepping down turns out to be some big
cheating scandal) How is it that every time Tim Tebow sneezes, it's on ESPN, but Urban's chest pains have managed to escape the media?

Urban Meyers is being blackmailed. This is a whole Tiger Woods/David Letterman thing.

Does Meyer have an heir-in-training assistant or will they raid his old protege, Kyle Whittingham of Utah?

Now reports say Meyer will coach the bowl game. Guess it's not that serious. It all must be hype to pump up the players. He'll sit back and "rest
up" while pulling strings from afar. What a slug. Tomorrow he goes into a press conference. Did his wife use a 3-iron on him too?? Will there be tears?

Damn Meyer. Chris Leak could have been so much better if they didn't hire him.

Did Urban Meyer sleep with your wife or run over your dog or something? Whatever the case, he can "screw over" the college fooball team I root for to the tune of two national championships any time he wants. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You moron, do you read this thread or just select portions of it to suit your emotions? I've already posted "why" I dislike Urban Meyer and not only is it fact regarding his actions, he's done it repeatedly. He doesn't care about anything but $$$$$. The ONLY thing about it this time is he's at the end of his contract. And notice he's coaching the bowl game!!! Yeah, he's seriously ill. I've already posted he's a good coach but Tiger Woods and John Daly are good golfers, Brian Kelly is a good coach, Pete Caroll is a good coach, but it doesn't make him a good person or an honest person or a person who's word is golden. Meyer repeatedly went back on his word breaking contracts with schools to jump to other schools for $$$$. He has NO real interest in how it affects anyone but him. His recruiting obviously is bullshit when he promises kids the program under him. As for you rooting for Florida and him, jump on the bandwagon. So long as it doesn't hurt you it's fine. You'd be calling for his head if he hadn't the success with his W-L he has. Stress!!??? How is it that his health succumbs to the job when 119 other head coaches in the FBS don't? I'd bet the coaches of Ohio State, Penn State, Oklahoma, Texas, and USC have just as much stress as Meyer does. I hope someone asks that question of him. The problem is there is little or no penalty imposed for coaches that break contracts and jump to other schools. How about no bowl game for 2 years and reduced scholarships. That would get schools to rethink the process. And have multiple offenders banned. |

OK - so Jaguar is an emotional idiot who doesn't realize college football is a business. Glad to get that out of they way so I can skip your posts.
So, Meyer may or may not be taking a leave of absence. This whole thing is so weird. I think he is addicted to something and has to go to rehab. |

Florida Coach Urban Meyer Not Resigning After All
NEW ORLEANS - Florida coach Urban Meyer is taking an indefinite leave of absence instead of resigning and expects to be on the sideline leading the Gators when next season opens. "I do in my gut believe that will happen," Meyer said Sunday at a Sugar Bowl news Offensive coordinator Steve "It's full speed ahead. We're going to do everything possible to win this game," he said. Less than 24 hours after resigning because of health concerns, Meyer changed his mind. He said he was offered and encouraged to take a leave of absence earlier in the week by the university president. Sunday, after conferring with athletic director Jeremy Foley and his family he "accepted the offer to improve my health." The 45-year-old Meyer said being with his players at a "spirited practice" Sunday morning persuaded him not to resign.

Wow, Candace is ignoring my posts now. No loss there. She's rooting for Alabama AND thinks the whole Meyer thing is "just weird." Double whammy.
Yeah hon, college football is a business but since you haven't been recruited you have no idea what is said by coaches to high school players. Just what do
you think happened to the players when Brian Kelly announced to the Cincinnati players he was bolting to Notre Dame in the midst of preparation of one of the
biggest games in school history? What do you think the underclassmen felt? Yeah, they walked away thinking, "cool, it's all just business." NOT!!
\
But my beef (insert "emotion" here) is about breaking contracts which totally FUCKS schools and it is happening at a larger rate now with no negative effect on the coach leaving. Oddly enough Nick Saban falls into this category as well, but I'm sure you're OK with that too so we won't dwell on that. As for emotion, sports and sports fanis are totally emotional and that's natural as has been evident in a number of posters in this thread. It is a key element that flows through out -- good and bad. Not to mention that in my business, emotion is sought out. So, I'd bet your virginity (and I'm sure you still have it), that in a few weeks come game time, "your" Bama players will be attempting to portray emotion, but of course then they're idiots too. Now, if you have any relevant facts to bring to the table and post them. --------------------------------------------- How many of you noticed the "people in the stands" meaning are the stadiums full? From what I have seen, much of the early games are struggling with attendance. I bring this up because it is a business. A struggling one. Corporate sponsors are still changing. Next year, the Music City changes (again). It's ongoing as businesses attempt advertising in the NCAA. But, as the bowls get "more important" towards the National Championship the seats will fill and sponsors will get more for their money includiing TV coverage. But do you like "The Little Ceasar's Pizza Bowl?" |
