Remove this ad I understand that food is one of the three keys to building muscle 1) working out, 2) food, 3) sleep. The problem is I don't understand when I should be eating the food. When should I be eating the carbs? When should I be eating the protein? When should I be drinking the protein shakes? Also, is it really hard to obtain shaped-ab muscles while having bulging biceps? I mean, you almost have to starve yourself to see the abs, unless you jog a long way every day... seems like any avoidance of food would decrease your bicep size... PS - What healthy and low-fat foods are high in carbs? help!

Carbs before the workout makes easier energy for the workout. As for the abs question, you need to reduce the percentage of body fat into somewhere in the 4-8% range. Biceps and abs have little to do with each other - different sets of muscle group. The not so serious answer? I'm pretty sure you are drinking "Protein shakes" at all hours. sorry. Open door. Had to walk through.
