If Dave's IQ was even half of what it was claimed to be, he would have understood that even though Jon was a bit of a Judas figure, taking out a Foa Foa at that point in time was an absolute necessity. The craziest part is that they could have actually succeeded. Instead of making the vote 7-1-1, the three of them could have made it 4-4-1 with Shambo to break the tie. Shambo would have likely kept John over Mick, as John was the only member of Galu who had a good relationship with her.

And yes, this was a bigger fuck up than John's at the previous TC. I don't want to downplay his mistake because a Foa Foa really did need to go that week, but I can understand the hesitancy to go to rocks and put himself at direct risk. The reason that the F9 vote is the most blatently stupid vote is because Galu failed to capitalize on the only slip up that the Foa Foas made post merge (abandoning their guaranteed majority with Shambo). Galu, who was already at a number's disadvantage made basically the same mistake as Erinn/Sierra/Coach/Debbie did at F7. This was the last point in time when Galu had ANY control of its fate, and the only one not to fuck up with this vote was the Fincher (who also dropped the ball by pulling a Liz and TELLING Russ that he knew about the idol).
