Because they had become such a unit pre-merge, letting either Ian or Amanda go on the jury would've cost them hugely with the jury - though those two players may have had time to recover from the betrayal, they'd also have time to talk to the jury about how awful Tom/Todd were. I think that keeping their partner around also helped to boost their own jury stock because both Tom and Todd were viewed as the dominant force of their alliance - the longer they keep their strong partner around, it makes them look good (like they're not taking goats) and makes their partner look more like a coattail rider to the jury. This is what happened to Amanda, and I think it could've happened to Ian as well. Todd's choice to keep Amanda around made much more sense, especially because she was nearly necessary in beating Erik/Peih-Gee at the IC's and betraying her would eliminate his three-person alliance and leave him/Courtney as a veyr easy target. Tom keeping Ian was a little more suspect - if he had kept Caryn at the F4 I'm pretty sure that she would've voted to keep Tom in the off-chance that he lost the IC, whereas Ian would not have. F5 was the absolute earliest that he should have let Ian go, though. |

13. Danni votes off Blake at her first post-swap TC
Recall the situation: a relatively early tribal swap put ex-Nakum members Danni, Bobby Jon, Brandon, and Blake on Yaxha with Gary, Amy, and Brian, giving the ex-Nakums the numbers advantage. Blake had arranged with the other ex-Nakum guys to pick off the orginal Yaxha one by one; all Danni had to do was join them and she probably would have made the merge, as the ex-Nakum guys were all physically strong, and perhaps collectively stronger than the new Nakum. Instead, at Brian and Gary's insistence, she voted out out Blake, and to this day I don't understand her reasoning. Apparently, Danni and Gary became tight and made a deal that she'd oust Blake if Gary ousted Brian next. But the only way Danni would know for certain that Gary would follow through on the deal would be after Blake left, and if Gary didn't follow through, and either forced a tie or had tried to work Brian's 3-2-1 plan (perhaps the best move for Gary), Danni would have been in a precarious situation. Fortunately for her, Gary proved trustworthy, but she was betting on his loyalty when he had every strategic incentive to be disloyal. The ex-Nakum guys, by contrast, not only had every incentive to stay loyal, but also seemed easier to manipulate than Gary. Even if Danni thought she could trust Gary despite his incentives, but not trust (apparently) Brian, she could have voted off Brian first, then either threaten Bobby Jon with a tie at the next TC, or vote off Amy at the next TC and try to flip Bobby Jon at the TC after that. Either route would have minimized the risks considerably more than the route she took. The remaining items as of now: Richard targets Greg at F10 Tina votes Jerri out at F8 Ethan votes off Kelly at F9 Vecepia votes for Neleh at F4 Brian doesn't reach out to any Sook Jai Jenna spills her alliances to Dave at the swap Sandra votes off Tijuana at F7 Amber votes off Tom at F5 Chris votes off Eliza at F4 Tom votes off Stephenie at F7 Danni votes off Blake at the first post-swap TC Aras votes for Bruce at Casaya's 2nd TC Yul offers Becky the HII twice Earl targets Alex at F9 Todd gives James both idols Parvati votes off Ozzy JT votes off Brendan Natalie has no plan B in case Russell proves disloyal ![]()

Eh, I suppose it can be viewed as a bad move, but Danni really was close enough with Gary to know he would do her right, and letting Blake go then helped solidify how firm she was with Gary while simultaneously making BJ/Brandon dependent on her. If she had allowed Brian to go first, she would've either had to force a tie or swing one of BJ/Brandon at the next TC, but by booting Blake she made herself the core of the power. Booting Blake also broke up the boys' threesome of which she was the fourth and instead made the Brandon/BJ/Gary/Danni alliance of which she was first (she was very tight with all three of them). |

That move was retarded and should've been higher. She just did it based on moral reasons, which is BS. She's just lucky that Gary and Amy were idiots
and voted Brian off next. Not only did she throw away her majority, she got rid of their best challenge competitor. So stupid.

unduli clone wrote: Good points. AveryC also stated the reasoning for it very well earlier in the thread: Consider the structure of the game at that point. The ruling Nakum alliance was Danni/Margaret/Brooke/Brandon/Blake/Bobby Jon with Cindy/Judd as outsiders. The switch at the final 15 put Danni on a tribe the three men plus three Yaxha members whilst Judd/Cindy stayed behind with her women and four Yaxha members. Then the new Nakum tribe comes to the challenge with Brooke being voted off. In the end, there was only one more immunity challenge after that challenge and Blake being there probably didn't make much of a difference. It would have worked out good for her had they won the episode 6 reward, one of her foursome won the individual immunity, and had given it to Margaret, resulting in Cindy getting voted out instead. But even then they'd only be 5-5 in that scenario. |

I've always felt that that reward challenge was pretty bullshit. I mean, I haven't seen it in a while, but you have a tribe of Bobby Jon, Gary, Brian,
Brandon, Danni, Amy against Steph, Cindy, Margaret, Lydia, Jamie, Judd, Rafe. I recall that somehow, the teams were always Judd or Jamie or both competing
when it called for a man, and the same went with Steph and Cindy. Meanwhile, the other tribe had to use Amy, with her broken ankle, and Brian, who was nowhere
near the same level as any of the other men in the game. How come Rafe wasn't competing? How come Lydia or Margaret, whichever one wasn't sitting
out, didn't get to compete? It always seemed lopsided to me in favor of NuNakum.

Short write-up: Happy New Year!
12. Earl targets Alex at F9 ![]() The Fiji F9 was one huge clusterfuck: Mookie stupidly tells Dreamz about the idol, and Dreamz stupidly tells Earl's alliance about the idol. Earl, knowing that Dreamz likes Alex (according to Boo, who had no reason to lie at that point), decides to target Alex rather than Mookie at TC, and tells Dreamz about it, expecting him to keep quiet. Dreamz, who feels close to Alex (just as Boo said), tells Alex that he's being targeted and needs the idol. Alex gets the idol from Mookie, and if Earl's alliance had carried out Earl's initial plan, they would have lost one of their crucial members in Cassandra. Only at Stacy's insistence did the group target Edguardo, preserving the whole alliance. The remaining items as of now: Richard targets Greg at F10 Tina votes Jerri out at F8 Ethan votes off Kelly at F9 Vecepia votes for Neleh at F4 Brian doesn't reach out to any Sook Jai Jenna spills her alliances to Dave at the swap Sandra votes off Tijuana at F7 Amber votes off Tom at F5 Chris votes off Eliza at F4 Tom votes off Stephenie at F7 Danni votes off Blake at the first post-swap TC Aras votes for Bruce at Casaya's 2nd TC Yul offers Becky the HII twice Todd gives James both idols Parvati votes off Ozzy JT votes off Brendan Natalie has no plan B in case Russell proves disloyal
