If there's a torrent for it after it airs I'm downloading it.

I just watched the premiere. It reminded me a lot like how "300" was done with all the CGI. I thought it was decent, but not as good as HBO's
Rome. And there was quite a lot of boobies.

Just watched as well. The first episode is pretty much a 300 ripoff, but it held my interest. Especially the bewbs. The second episode seemed to drag a bit
more but I might watch a few more to see where it goes. And Lucy Lawless was looking pretty awesome.

If I recall my greco/roman history, pretty much the men are all naked and the women are covered head to toe (or at least that's how they usually idealize
themselves) which means this show will be awful. However...

All the nudity managed to hold my interest for a little, but man, aside from Lucy Lawless it really is a very poorly acted show.

i'm watching this right now ... there is some jarring stuff that really could've been fixed - the blood splater effect = wtf. why are they walking
around wearing almost nothing in snowfall winter. the tender loving sex scenes - i'd think the men would fuck their women with abandon, not all sweet-like.
its just the little stuff which is making is unrealistic.
and the gladiator's wife looks kindof asian which is distracting. i guess i'll still watch though, since i'm a history-shows whore. |

Spartacus is fantastic. I'm enjoying it immensely. I have read that gladiator combat was exciting and addictive to ancient Romans, but this is the first
time it actually was exciting to watch in a tv show or movie. I haven't seen HBO's Rome yet, but Spartacus is certainly a million times better than the
stupid Hercules and Xena series. I assume that Spartacus will escape and lead a war against Rome. I'm looking forward to that. I like the nudity and the
combat scenes are awesome. I'm really glad that this show hasn't been watered down for kids. That would've ruined it. It's the most exciting
scripted series in a long time.
I went to IMDB board and there were mostly a bunch of snotty asswipes trashing this show. I am disappointed that even on the sucks forum there are some people who don't like the show much. Well despite all this I think that Spartacus will be a popular and successful series. People are wrong to criticize Spartacus for lack of originality. How many fucking times have Gladiator and 300 been emulated by a tv series? Just once. It's not like it's been done so many times that we're sick of it. Secondly, you are wrong to think that originality is the most important or one of the most important qualities. People primarily want a good product, not necessarily an original one. I know this for a fact from my business experience. I've designed and sold a lot of stuff. When you go buy a burger or a car or a shirt, you're not looking for something freaking original, you're just looking for something good. It's the same with movies. All this complaining about lack of originality is wrongheaded bullshit. It just has to be good, and if it also has some original qualities to it, then that's a nice bonus. Movie and TV critics are always complaining about a lack of originality. Critics are some of the biggest asswipes on the planet. I am so sick of them. They don't know what they're talking about. They don't make movies. They're not in business. They don't know shit about making products that customers will buy. They're just a bunch of assholes. |

While I was falling asleep last night, clicking around, I was surprised to find that the premiere was being reshown on the 101 Network on DirecTV. I don't
know if they will be replaying every episode yet, and there are a few more showings of the premiere there over the next few days.
