16 GABRIEL 'GABE' CADE
Survivor: Marquesas, 12th Place

To be honest, Gabe is probably the person on this list I could tell you the least about their actual time in the game, since I haven't seen Marquesas since it aired (although I did re-watch just the first 2/3 episodes recently, but that's it). But from what I remember, his bio, his good looks, Gabe is a great guy. I loved his perspective on the game and at the time I totally agreed with it. I have a big fondness for the Gabe/Wigglesworth/Flicka/Sierra types of players because it actually shows that they're a real person and that money isn't everything to them. Sometimes gamebots are fun to watch for strategy, but sometimes experiencebots are fun to watch for the non-strategy and the non-strategy they want everyone else to follow along with. Usually this doesn't end well and even though Gabe was a hard-working, attractive, intelligent, well-travelled and well-rounded young guy, he was still booted before the merge because his head wasn't in the game. If I were on his tribe, Gabe would be my #1 choice for an ally and right up there at the top of wanted allies for all Survivors, period. You know you could trust him, he has world experience and is a creative, spiritual type of guy. The only thing I didn't like about Gabe is that he's from North Carolina and I don't really like the Carolinas. I guess because of that coupled with me remembering the littlest of his actual time in the game (besides key moments, most notably making Kathy cry lol), he can't crack the top half of this prestigious, predictable, sensible countdown.

If I do get the job with the Census I applied for, this castaway would have the highest chances of me knocking on their door...


15 SPENCER DUHM
Survivor: Tocantins, 12th Place

I'll say this right off the bat but Spencer is totally a sentimental favorite for me. He was my pre-show favorite by far, because he's a young college student, he's gay, he has blue eyes, he's a huge Survivor fan, and he's from the town next to me, in a metro area that has been very underrepresented in Survivor (only Jan up until that point). I know a lot of people on Sucks say that they resemble Spencer, but I honestly think I do the most, and I'm not saying that's a good or bad thing because I'm my own individual and very unlike Spencer in many ways, but demographically this was probably my spot on Survivor being filled and I was excited to see a cute young gay dude Survivor fan from the town next to mine on the show. Obviously Spencer's time on the show wasn't that memorable and was kinda disappointing, but that's mostly just cos although Tocantins actually had a great cast (minus Joe, Sydney, Carolina, JT), the boot order was totally fucked. And surprisingly there are 3 more Tocantins castaways to be appearing on this list. Try and guess which ones?!

Anyway, when Tocantins aired from start to finish, I was in Cyprus for 5 months, living and "studying". My only access to Survivor was this website and buying the episodes off Itunes the next day. Me or any of my friends didn't have TV's and the bars would only play football (U.S. soccer for you ignorant fucks) or cheesy Turkish soap operas. Spencer was on the show and the closest representation to myself as possible on Survivor, and Debbie also was the closest representation to my mom as possible, and when I was away for those 5 months, I realized how important family was and didn't take them for granted when I came back, so every week (well for the first 5 weeks anyway), I would kinda joke to my friends that would watch it with me (read: forced them to watch it with me, they were all fans of Sierra, Erinn & Brendan) that it was like watching myself & my mom on Survivor together, because Debbie is a happy, in-shape southern MILF that works (okay, runs) a middle school and my mom fits pretty much all of that as well, and their personalities, demeanors and reactions to things are also very, very similar. Omg I wish I could talk about Debbie in every write-up but Spencer was cool and had the biggest pre-show hype for me of any castaway ever.
