I was watching the reshow of the judges mansion episode. Did anyone else notice that in one of the promo clips before going to commercial that Kris Allen was
clearly one of the people chosen to do a sing off? He was clearly sitting in the judging room sitting next to someone. When I saw it I thought to myself I
don't remember that, so I sat through the entire 2 hour episode to see it, but it wasn't shown. I did notice though that his winning a Top 36 spot was
heavily edited. And they didn't show him walking in the door to tell everyone he made it, just him hugging people...I wonder why they opted not to show his
sing for your life segment...interesting
BTW I'm not a conspiracy freak that's trying to read too much into it, I think it just shows that there's a reason that so far he is the least successful selling AI winner in history, if he only barely made it to the top 36.... |

He also barely made it to the win (with help from AT&T). There are MANY reasons why he is far and away the least selling winner in Idol history. Here's
a few possibilities:
1) CDs don't sell like they used to. 2) he probably didn't really win. 3) his fanbase was small. In the finale many people weren't voting FOR him, they were voting AGAINST Adam. 4) his CD just isn't very good. It has also gotten little airplay and nothing beyond routine promotion. 5) he has a nice but nondescript voice. 6) his singing doesn't fall into any specific genre that would guarantee him SOME sales. But I think his biggest problem (#7) is that he made it to the finale over extremely weak competition in Idol's most unmemorable season ever. The show has been going downhill for some time, even though the rating haven't dropped too much. It seems like people still watching are doing it out of habit, not because they really expect to see exciting new singers whose CDs they expect to purchase. As far as the singoff thing that jdawg mentions, no I don't remember him being in a singoff either. But I do know the judges NEVER showed any great enthusiasm for him, and that doesn't help either. |

They also showed Kelly's group round performance in Hollywood and Simon mumbling that there was something about Kelly he just didn't like.
