Yes! How could I not mention that part in my evaluation? My girlfriend was actually scared during that scene, and I just looked at her like "really?"

I totally expected to love this movie, and I was a bit let down. This movie's about a kid who is a cancer patient. His family moves into a new house that used to be a funeral parlor. The kid is haunted by odd visions and hallucinations. He tries to tell his family, but they don't really believe him, because like I said..... he's a cancer patient. Eventually the hallucinations lead the boy to knock down some walls, where a bunch of dead bodies are found, and we discover that some weird voodoo-ish shit had gone down in the house in the past. That's about it. Despite the creepy atmosphere and bizarre visions, this movie is not that scary, and nothing really HAPPENS in it. Meh.

This movie isn't exactly Arnold Schwarzenegger's crowning moment in cinema. It is about some girl who is meant to father Satan's daughter and bring about the end of the world or sumthin. As much as I am intrigued by the premise and I want to like it, I just don't. I mean, it's all right and there are some good parts. But as a whole it kind of drags on and is very boring. My favo part is the homeless guy who turns into glass and shatters on the subway. That's pretty cool. Or the threesome scene where the participants start melting together. But overall it's just an OK movie.

I actually really, really like Home Alone 2. I don't know why I wasn't that into it this year. I think I was distracted because I was running a Vertigo challenge, and had this movie on in the background. Anyone who plays or runs ORGs should know how difficult it is to multitask when you're really into what you're doing. It is almost like I didn't even watch it. I'll probably watch this at some point in '10 and have it ranked in the top 100 next year. For now, it must deal with the low ranking.

Apparently 2009 was the year where I watched a bunch of disappointing sequels? As much as I enjoyed the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, I just had a really hard time getting into this one. It doesn't fill you with that same sense of wonder that the first film does. It's more straight to the business than that. This movie focuses on a war between humans (who go by some other silly name) and Narnians, who have been pushed into the forest by the evil men. The kids from the original movie return to help the Narnians, and to integrate them and man into one peaceful society. You get the drift. This movie tries too hard to be like Lord of the Rings, with the long and drawn out battle sequences. They bored me very quickly, and dragged this movie out to an unnecessary length. Not as good as the original, and definitely a lot harder to sit through.

I think that if I had watched this version of the movie BEFORE I watched the remake, I would have liked it more. Instead it was the other way around. Whereas the remake shocked me with it's intensity and senseless brutality, this movie was a lot slower and a lot more boring to me. It was made back in the 70's and is extremely dated. I don't mind classic horror films, but this was just laughably bad at parts. The premise is excellent. And I have to give it kudos for pushing the envelope consideing when it was made. But I dunno. I was not enthralled by it.

I had heard awful things about this movie, so I went into it not expecting a whole lot. It wasn't as bad as I had anticipated. I can understand why people would hate it, with all the lame recycled jokes from the first movie. And a lot of the humor is very crude as well, perhaps even moreso than the original. But hey I guess I am just easily amused. It's not an upper echelon movie by any stretch of the imagination. But still amusing.

On paper you would think this would be a movie I'd love. It's a Creepshow/Tales from the Crypt type movie about Halloween in a small town. There are 4 individual, unique, interwoven plotlines going on at the same time. Each one is like a little mini movie that ties into the next one somehow. I just was not as enthralled by this as I should have been. It wasn't terrible. I just wasn't into it. It's hard to explain. Oh well. I'll probably end up watching it in '10 and giving it another shot. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't spectacular.

This is another one of those movies that gets bashed by critics, yet I seem to find it relatively amusing. I really liked this movie as a kid, although admittedly I did not like it that much as an adult when I watched it this year. I did watch the basic cable version of the movie, so I'm sure I missed out on a lot of the good blood and violence. And in a movie like this, blood and violence is a necessity. In this film, it's the future, and violence is running rampant. Instead of police, they have Judges, who basically act as judge, jury, and executioner all in one. Judge Dredd is the best Judge out there. When he is framed for murder, he is banished and must escape and come back to clear his good name. There's a lot more to it, but that's the basic gist. It's not a spectacular movie and I can see why people would hate it. But it's not bad. It's ok.

Ha. I expected the worst, but this movie isn't that bad, really. It's corny, but amusing in a trainwrecky kind of way. There is just no way I could bring myself to rank it any higher than this. Basically, it's about an evil troll who resides in an apartment building and terrorizes the people who live there. He also slowly starts transforming sections of the building into some weird kind of troll world. Apparently there's a witch in the building with some kind of evil stone or artifact that is causing all the nonsense to happen. I don't really remember. I was very high when I watched this. Started to lose interest after awhile. It's aight.

I prefer my Batman movies dark and gritty, like the Michael Keaton films, or the newer ones by Christopher Nolan. That said, I didn't mind Batman Forever, which took more of a lighthearted approach to the Caped Crusdaer. Batman and Robin is in the mold of Batman Forever, but nowhere near as good. The dialogue is cheesy and the acting is pretty bad. The high flying action sequences were entertaining, but kind of laughable. For example - the scene where Batman and Robin put on iceskates and battle a bunch of killer hockey players. That's just silly. Or how about when they jump off of that rocket ship thing and surf back down to earth while battling Mr Freeze? I couldn't stop rolling my eyes throughout the film. It's NOT good. George Clooney is a decent Batman though. Better than Val Kilmer, I think. There is entertainment value here, but still probably my least favorite Batman movie ever.
