Yes, her accomplishments and film history mean so much less because you haven't seen her movies.

TDK fanboys were way worse. The analogy would be: TDK fans = Claymates. Avatards = Lambtards.

Thanks for reminding us all that Kate Winslet won the Oscar for the wrong film.

Don't most people win Oscars for the wrong movies? I can name more of those than I can the people who win for the right ones.
I just saw The Hurt Locker. Also incredibly impressive. The movie had me on edge the whole time. The director should win. I'd also say the actor but he has no shot with Clooney, Firth and Bridges in the mix, which I can live with as long as Clooney doesn't win. |

midnightproblay wrote:I totally agree about Shakespeare in Love. The screenplay was written by Tom Stoppard, for pete's sake. It managed to squeeze three or four Shakespearean plots into one film and do so in a way that didn't seem ridiculous or straight out of a "Reduced Shakespeare" production. It has beautiful sets and costumes, and the performances by Gwyneth Paltrow, Geoffrey Rush and Judi Dench are awesome while those of Joseph Fiennes, Colin Firth, and even Imelda Staunton, who has a tiny part, are nothing to sneeze at. As for the NSFC, their winners were announced today: Picture & Director: The Hurt Locker (Kathryn Bigelow) Actress: Yolande Moreau, Seraphine Actor: Jeremy Renner, The Hurt Locker Supporting Actress: Mo'Nique, Precious Supporting Actor (tie): Paul Scheider, Bright Star and Christoph Waltz, Inglourious Basterds If it hadn't only grossed $13 million or whatever at the box office, I might say that "The Hurt Locker" could be the winner. As for now, I'm skeptical. |

I had a busy weekend indeed<3 I watched three movies and I enjoyed them all.
Taken (2009) Thriller/ Drama Starring: Liam Neeson, Maggie Grace, Katie Cassidy and Famke Janssen. My Thoughts? This movie grossed over 100 million at the Box Office and I expected it to be way better then it actually was. Now I am in no way dissing the movie because I did enjoy it. I expected better is all. Liam Neeson was fantastic in this movie, he played the worried father to perfection. Great stuff and he was kicking some major ass in this movie. Don't fuck with Liam bitches. Maggie Grace? She was ok! This girl is like 25 years old in real life and I found some of her acting pathetic, for instance the teen girly things teens do when something goes there way? Annoying!, well she did play a teenager so I'll shut up now lol. When she reunites with her dad, that was her best acting in the movie. Not to much Famke Janssen in this movie to really judge. Overall? Taken was cool and I highly recommend it. Trailer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V0pIQx7H794 |

I think The Hurt Locker has a better chance at winning BP than most people would think.

I really don't understand anyone who says Avatar is the best film of the year, it's innovation relies solely on the technology. Once you take away all
the smoke and mirrors, it's a mediocre white guilt story. There is no point in the entire movie where it was unpredictable, You knew that the main
character would fall in love with the aliens, you knew that he was going to betray his race, you knew some of the minor characters were gonna die, you knew
that the good guys win at the end. It's not that it's bad, it's boring and the polar opposite of revolutionary, story-wise.
And I don't want to get dirty but the dialogue was horrendous, all the "i See You" bullshit and that laughable debriefing at the beginning. Even the design of the aliens weren't that special. Just alienized dogs and Rhinos, dragons with an extra pair of wings and Horses with an extra pair of legs. It all seems lazy after you've seen Lucas go creature crazy with Star Wars. Even the Na'Vi were just classic tribal people complete with tribe chief, female tribe prophet, a tribe princess and angry tribe warrior who butts heads with main character. That entire montage of Jake learning the ways of the Na'Vi could've been replaced by "Colors of the Wind" and it would have been the same (which mind you, that song is a billion times better than that "My Heart Will Go On" rip off) with those jellyfish things replacing Pocahontas' floating leaves. In terms of sci-fi fantasy, we've seen better. Even this year, if you want a good sci-fi story about a man thrust into an alien lifestyle, watch District 9 instead. At least in that movie the aliens really were aliens. |

I remember Jeremy Renner from that Bravo show "The It Factor", when he was going out for auditions on Dahmer (which I still can't
watch).
Unfortunately, that season also gave us LisaRaye. |

I haven't seen many films that are in contention yet, but as for Avatar - ovbviously the CG and 3D were impressive and I respect the amount of work that
went into that, but it's not a film I will EVER be seeing twice. I feel for those who only saw it in 2D. Mid-way, as the gimmick of 3D wore off, I found
myself thinking: I could walk out right now and not even care. The story was just so dull and predictaible. I just wanted the damn thing to end. It deserves
technical awards but I will die laughing if it wins BP.
The best films I've seen from 2009 would be The Cove and Inglorious Basterds. |

I saw Avatar twice, second time in 2d, making its flaws that much more obvious.

If Crash can win then Avatar can win. Don't underestimate the academy's ability to let the best film lose. Also, there's no Celine Dion song so
that makes it better than Titanic, which also won Best Picture!

survivorjordancontestant wrote: The Na'Vi saved Jake. Remember that? So I don't see how it can be a story about whites saving indians like everyone says. Also epic fail at comparing Avatar to that piece of shit District 9. I hated that movie and all the people I've talked to thought it was overrated even if they liked it. The only place I have ever heard anything bad about Avatar is in this thread. Also Star Wars's little blobs of fur should not be compared to Avatar either. Also the Na'Vi weren't aliens. The humans were the aliens on their planet so there is no reason why they have to look like the "sterotypical aliens". And I agree that the "I see you" was a lame attempt at making a catchphrase but it's not like Star Wars had great dialogue either. |
