Please be as detailed as you can, wherever possible. Well, last episode I was tricked(although if Jeff is telling the story, I was blindsided) into thinking Liz would be going home. I, personally, was smashing the 'Vote Elizabitch' button in my head which is funny since I liked Liz so much on the show(that's right, she was underrated, not overrated) and was suprised that Natalie got the boot. So I knew this episode would play off that a bit. I hate this Liz so much and this Ben is nothing like the show's Ben but I love him too. I'm really liking the teamings in this game(Mick/Ben, Betsy/Russell, John/Erik). I am really hoping Ben sways Kelly and Liz goes SOON. Then of course the whole Shambo vs. Ashley thing, I think Dave was on the right track in that it would have been Ashley but Shambo played as if she wanted to be voted out. "If you kept your head down, maybe it wouldn't be getting chopped off." < WIN! Lots of subtle things I liked about this episode that don't really matter but I liked them anyway. BTW, great save on Russell throwing the challenge, it didn't come to me when I was sitting there saying "Nu-uh, she did not just make him drop that!". Haha. (B) What was your overall favorite part of the episode? "Taking the Night Off" and "The Ring Leader". (C) What would you rate this episode out of 10? (1 being the lowest; 10 being the highest) 8 - It was good and well rounded but nothing really popped like in past episodes. (D) Do you have any questions about this episode that you'd like to see cleared up in a future episode or for me to answer? Is Kelly just a little bit smarter than Ben, is she really? 1. SOLE SURVIVOR POLL (A) Which castaway do you think will be the Sole Survivor? Well, I think John, Monica, Kelly, Mick, and Ben all have very good seats in this game for different reasons. I'm going to have to give it to Mick, though he'll need to kick it up a gear or two, the little role he played in this episode was brilliantly played. So, Mick. 2. WHAT'S NEXT POLL (A) Which castaway will be voted off in Episode 6? Hmm, I will go with Ashley. (B) Do you have any other predictions for Episode 6? I could be way off base, but I see Kelly jumping ship to Ben's side in the Ben-Liz battle. 3. Please be as detailed as you can, wherever possible. -- I actually really, really liked it. It was entertaining and a lot of the confessionals were very accurate from the characters. The only part I thought was unrealistic was Ben wasting time sucking up to Kelly & Monica, in the real game, he'd have nothing to do with that and focus on being a provider. Please be as detailed as you can, wherever possible. Taking the night off: Great to see the tension building. Already can't wait to see what happens with them. This looks to be the complex tribe. I wouldn't be surprised if they lost over and over and over again, while Foa Foa's story is largely "Shambo's annoying, will Russell survive?". Of course I haven't seen Foa Foa yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if it worked out that way. Wouldn't mind it either since I'm very curious about Galu's dynamics and how they'll vote. Separation anxiety: Lol at John floundering. Actually, what's funny is that I had created a Samoa fanfic as well, and I had a John/Monica showmance as well. I totally thought they would being young professionals. Funny. Erik is growing on me; he's very similar to how he was on the show, I think you captured his character very well. Working to survive: LOVE THIS SCENE! Makes me hate Ben, no doubt. I wish Liz would have gotten up, gotten 7 mangos and given them to everyone including Ben to be the bigger person. Really not liking Ben. Kelly is very Mick like though; she's definitely a hard character to write for, but at least she's making an impact this go around. Meeting of the minds: Interesting scene. Not liking Russell domination 2.0. I wish Ashley, a fan of the game, would have gotten her head in it quicker and got to them before Russell. However, I'm not so sure this is bad for Ashley's winning chances. I've supported Ashley winning since before the game, so I'm hoping I'm right; but this gives her the right amount of doubt. They could have left it the new alliance, but Ashley's place within the tribe was emphasized. I hope I'm right! I think if she survives this episode, she's in it for the win. The ring leader: Ooooh, just when I say Kelly is hard to write for, you manage to crack out a great scene! Love the character development. I hope Queen Kelly falls though, but not before becoming a huge Laura-esque HBIC. Ben is smarmy though, I wish she'd see through him. Ben/Kelly showmance? Gross! A pep talk: lol, Shambo really sucks. She's kind of one note, but that's how Survivor editing generally is. I can't believe she's so annoying, but I'm liking it. Who's to blame? Wow, good move for Russell. I don't like him, but damn, he's got some balls to pull that off and do it well. Shambo continues to be annoying. Really hope Ashley survives! Moving target: Kudos, kitty, this scene was the best I've read yet. I think it could absolutely go either way at tribal council, though I think Ashley might be toast. I hope not because I'm invested in her win!!! John's smart in this version, good for him. Tribal Council: WHAT A SHOCK!!!! You totally had me thinking Ashley was gone. Wow. I'm thrilled though ... It ebbed and flowed naturally, but I don't think it's going to stick out in my mind when I think back on how this season progressed (though that's probably because I'm half-distracted and need to read this a second time =P). Erik's amazing as always, I love the Erik-John-Russ-Betsy alliance and Betsy's comments throughout the episode were golden. I would've been fine keeping Shambo around another week just to see what she'd rage over some more or if someone just wasn't going to take it anymore and confront her (most likely Betsy; Betsy-Shambo showdown would've been incredible), but she definitely needed to be gone! Over on Galu, Ben's strategy of winning over Kelly is fun. I'm also enjoying Liz's quick-to-hate personality. It's totally justified, but it seems one-note... but that may because she only had two lines this episode and both highlighted Ben. I definitely enjoyed the workings of this episode and everyone's character is vibrant even if they only get a single sentence or action each week. Great work! (B) What was your overall favorite part of the episode? A Pep Talk and Who's to Blame? Also, loved Erik's line in Separation Anxiety. (C) What would you rate this episode out of 10? (1 being the lowest; 10 being the highest) 9 (D) Do you have any questions about this episode that you'd like to see cleared up in a future episode or for me to answer? John feels strange for me. I'm so used to him being almost arrogantly confident on the show that when he hesitates and tells Erik to think over voting out Shambo instead of Ashley, it was the first time I've been thrown out of the fanfic, even if just for no more than thirty seconds. Not your writing. I get John's a rocket scientist, he's got a better edit, and he's playing a lot smarter and safer than I remember him on the show, it's just... weird. Even Nice Ben, Hard-Working Hantz, Challenge Throwing Swan, and No Complaints Jaison I just accepted and move on. I'm... not sure where I originally started with this because I think I answered my own question, =P. Umm... we've already seen both Russells throw a challenge for the good of their tribemates on the opposing team. Will they be the core focus of next wee- no that would be spoilers, not clearing anything up! XD Um... no questions. Maybe just some comments on your take on John so far. 1. I liked it, but I like the previous one more. However I have to say it was not predictable at all. I was pretty sure Ashley was going home, and I was surprised to see Shambo voted off. Good job with that. I just wish there was more character developement, but I have to say I enjoy new-Galu a lot more than new-Foa Foa. Kelly, Yassy, Ben, Monica and Russell S are all really likeable and interesting characters.. On the other hand the dynamics on Foa Foa are great.. I think John made a mistake this week sending Shambo home. I'm predicting that next week either Erik or John will be voted off by the Foa Foa majority. Sorry for not getting Episode 4 done, but I called it, Natalie had a huge fanbase, so she was destined to leave next. At least now with Shambo leaving you're redeeming yourself to the fans you irritated early on lol. But Really I'm glad to see Shambo gone, never really liked her in either version. Her tone is M imo, because of her bad preformance at the challenge and naivete concerning Russell H (both imo are N), combined with her pleasant demeanor and the face we're obviously supposed to root for her (which is P) I can understand the OTT, although I'd probably go with MOR. Good job on this one though. Ben - CPM3 (Ben was imo complex enough to get CP (insight in his personal feelings as well as his strategy), eventhough it's pretty much borderline CP-OTT imo. Again, I give him an M tone - being both a hard worker and an underdog is obviously quite P, however being extremely bitter and hostile towards Liz is N (eventhough we obviously are supposed to root against her). So CPM seems fine to me) Perfect. Betsy - OTTP3 (Imo not complex enough to be CP. P tone was a logical choice, since she's a nice character and easy to root for). Again, I could see OTT, but I'd probably go with MOR. Good job. Dave - MOR2 (A very boring edgic imo. Not exaclty tones, and a combination of UTR and CP. Not real tone defined imo) Good, although I could see a UTR as well. Erik - CP2 (Complex enough to be CP. Could also be MOR, but I hate MOR, so I give him CP) I don't think he was all that complex. He was more of a narrator this episode, and didn't even get a confessional after the tribe lost immunity. Also, I might give him a weak N rating. And again, I think he was higher visibility than just a two. So this is the first rating I really disagree with so far. Jaison - UTR2 (Jaison was hardly present in this episode, and if it weren't for the few confessionals he got, I'd have given him INV1) Yeah, I can agree with this, although I could also see an MOR. John - CPP3 (Deep enough fo CP, though only slightly imo. He could also be MORP, for all I know. His (extremely cute) missing of Monica, who he obviously cares for) is imo quite a positive thing. ) Yup, I can understand that. The P might be weak though, but good job nonetheless. Kelly - CPP3 (We had a clear insight in Kelly's game and personality, both by herself as by other characters (expecially Mick and Monica). Her Positive tone was faint, but present enough for me to give her P.) I agree with the P tone, but I don't really see Kelly giving insight into her own game so much as she's narrating. It's really hard for me to make Kelly complex because she doesn't strike me as a complex personality. MORP works better. Liz - OTTN2 (Although Liz herself didn't speak much (I don't think she got any confessionals, did she?), her presence was quite obvious and profound. She could be MOR, but I think OTT is more fitting here. We're supposed to root against her, so N is imo the right tone) We didn't really get any scenes to outright dislike Liz, so I'd say she's more UTRN than a weak OTTN. Mick - CP2 (Mick's story arc in the episode was significantly deepened, which is enough for CP. He had a faint P tone, but I think it was too faint to add) I felt like Mick was just narrating Kelly being the leader, and losing Natalie. He's more of an MOR this episode. Monica - MOR2 (Narrator role, no clear tone) I thought she was more UTR, just getting a brief, fluff confessional. Russell H. - CPN5 (Someone who throws a challenge should always get N. Obviously, he doesn't exaclty help Ashely out of the kindness of his heart either. Russ was either CP or OTT this episode, but since we really saw him thinking and strategizing, I'd say CP is more fitting) I agree with this. Russell S. - UTRP1 (Absolutely not present, but his excellent preformance as the challenge is enough to give him P imo) I agree with this. Shambo - OTTN4 (OTT till the end, I guess. Easiliy the most obvious edgic imo) I agree, but I'd give her a five. Yasmin - UTR2 (a non-entity in this episode, without any defying tone.) Agree. Winner Picks 1. Kelly 2. John 3. Monica (4.) Ashley Based on Edgic, who do you feel cannot win the game? BASED ON EDGIC? Well, then I would got for Ben, Betsy, Liz, Dave, Erik (all got an INV1 at least once), Yasmin and Mick (too UTR). I'm also guess both Russells (Russell S. is imo too bland and a bit underdeveloped (if he's the sole Survivor, then plz make him more complex, and Russell H is too antagonzing, too Over The Top and too N overall) Everyone else still has a decent shot at the title, imo. I think you did an amazing job with your edgic this week. The only one I'd really disagree with was Erik, and as for what you've said about Russell S. as a winner, sometimes it's just hard to make a character complex. Like, some characters you look at, and you really want to make them OTT, or MOR, but CP is the hardest rating, IMO.

Mick and Ben is kinda brought down by Mick a little bit. I am really hoping Ben sways Kelly and Liz goes SOON. We'll see, for sure. Then of course the whole Shambo vs. Ashley thing, I think Dave was on the right track in that it would have been Ashley but Shambo played as if she wanted to be voted out. "If you kept your head down, maybe it wouldn't be getting chopped off." < WIN! Yeah, Shambo's just too much of a dominant personality to not piss people off the way she did. Lots of subtle things I liked about this episode that don't really matter but I liked them anyway. BTW, great save on Russell throwing the challenge, it didn't come to me when I was sitting there saying "Nu-uh, she did not just make him drop that!". Haha. Yeah, Russell H. seems like he'd be more likely to throw the challenge than Russell S. last episode. (B) What was your overall favorite part of the episode? "Taking the Night Off" and "The Ring Leader". The Ring Leader was my chance to finally give Kelly some characterization that I've been struggling with thus far. Hard creating a character out of nothing to work with. (C) What would you rate this episode out of 10? To answer your question, yes, I really hate this Liz. She seems whiney and illogical in her stratagy. But please do NOT take this as a diss to your work! It is WONDERFUL, Liz is very entertaining and has a big personality but just like in real life you can hate a character or player but still find them entertaining. Actually, I would be slightly disappointed if I couldn't find anyone to hate, haha. Yep, I think this Ben and the real Ben are equally entertaining but at the same time such contrasts to eachother. What do you mean brought down? Because he is more under the radar? Yep, Shambo's personality just isn't very likeable. She is either annoying and goofy or strict and rude. But that makes her a fun, original character. Of course, I saw how that fit once it became clear but previously I was caught off guard and was remembering back to the first challenge in the actual show where he proved to be plenty strong. I applaud your good idea. :) Mhmm, but I see her getting cocky, which to me...just ended her chance of winning. Honestly, how often does the "leader" win? Not very. Has it happened? Yes. But it's much more likely for the leader role to be dethroned. It sounds like next week Kelly makes her choice and sides with either Liz or Ben...should be interesting. Would be funny if Kelly upsets both sides and went home next week, I don't expect it, but it would be funny. I hope you don't mind me replying, if you do, just say and I wont let it happen again. Actually, what's funny is that I had created a Samoa fanfic as well, and I had a John/Monica showmance as well. I totally thought they would being young professionals. Funny. Erik is growing on me; he's very similar to how he was on the show, I think you captured his character very well. Yeah, John and Monica just had so many different things in common, so I had to think that they would wind up aligned, and seeing them against one another was one of the biggest surprises of the game. I would've liked to have seen more reasoning as to why. Working to survive: LOVE THIS SCENE! Makes me hate Ben, no doubt. I wish Liz would have gotten up, gotten 7 mangos and given them to everyone including Ben to be the bigger person. Really not liking Ben. Kelly is very Mick like though; she's definitely a hard character to write for, but at least she's making an impact this go around. Yeah, this scene was supposed to be painting Ben as kinda immature, but he was supposed to be kinda positive overall. Kelly IS really hard to write for though, but I know she's got a lot of potential in her. I don't want to turn her into some OTT hippy though. Meeting of the minds: Interesting scene. Not liking Russell domination 2.0. I wish Ashley, a fan of the game, would have gotten her head in it quicker and got to them before Russell. However, I'm not so sure this is bad for Ashley's winning chances. I've supported Ashley winning since before the game, so I'm hoping I'm right; but this gives her the right amount of doubt. They could have left it the new alliance, but Ashley's place within the tribe was emphasized. I hope I'm right! I think if she survives this episode, she's in it for the win. Well, last episode Russell had his enforcer (Betsy) work on Jaison and Ashley, just to make sure that everyone stuck together, because he knew that there was some potential for trouble after the Marisa boot. Plus, I think the make-up of the new tribe hindered Ashley a little bit. With Monica, Kelly, and Yasmin, Ashley might have been more likely to seek out new alliances right away, but Dave/Shambo weren't good for her, and she might not know if she can trust John and Erik. The ring leader: Ooooh, just when I say Kelly is hard to write for, you manage to crack out a great scene! Love the character development. I hope Queen Kelly falls though, but not before becoming a huge Laura-esque HBIC. Ben is smarmy though, I wish she'd see through him. Ben/Kelly showmance? Gross! You see, it's funny that everyone acts like Kelly is an HBIC just based on Mick commenting on it. It just made sense to me that either Russell or Kelly would be connected to everyone in the tribe, and Kelly connects better to Monica, so she's the "real leader". And it's not really a showmance so much as Ben is desperate and Kelly doesn't mind. A pep talk: lol, Shambo really sucks. She's kind of one note, but that's how Survivor editing generally is. I can't believe she's so annoying, but I'm liking it. Yeah, I like her more in this version because at least I'm not trying to make a negative person look positive. I'm making her over-the-top and negative because that's who I think Shambo is. Who's to blame? Wow, good move for Russell. I don't like him, but damn, he's got some balls to pull that off and do it well. Shambo continues to be annoying. Really hope Ashley survives! Yeah, like I said, villain Russell really comes out in this episode when he actually starts putting evil plans into motion, and Shambo, of course, follows the same path I expected from Coach, of targetting the youngest girl before anyone else. Moving target: Kudos, kitty, this scene was the best I've read yet. I think it could absolutely go either way at tribal council, though I think Ashley might be toast. I hope not because I'm invested in her win!!! John's smart in this version, good for him. Thank you so much! And yes, I agree, John had so much more potential to be smart, but he just came off as a complete doofus in the real show. And I'm glad that you thought the result was still up in the air. It ebbed and flowed naturally, but I don't think it's going to stick out in my mind when I think back on how this season progressed (though that's probably because I'm half-distracted and need to read this a second time =P). Aww, I'm sorry to hear that it didn't stick out in your mind. I figured it would stick out as the first time a disliked player got booted. Erik's amazing as always, I love the Erik-John-Russ-Betsy alliance and Betsy's comments throughout the episode were golden. It just seems like an alliance that would come together naturally, with John being skeptical. I would've been fine keeping Shambo around another week just to see what she'd rage over some more or if someone just wasn't going to take it anymore and confront her (most likely Betsy; Betsy-Shambo showdown would've been incredible), but she definitely needed to be gone! I probably could've had Betsy take on Shambo, but Betsy's a bit nicer than that, plus, it would've wound up being like Shambo vs. Laura. Over on Galu, Ben's strategy of winning over Kelly is fun. Yeah, that's the good thing about having a woman in control. The men can flirt with her a lot more effectively than a man being in control, it seems. (Because male leaders tend to be older) I'm also enjoying Liz's quick-to-hate personality. It's totally justified, but it seems one-note... but that may because she only had two lines this episode and both highlighted Ben. Yeah, this episode really didn't need much of Liz to be interesting, and her story really IS about Ben at the moment. I definitely enjoyed the workings of this episode and everyone's character is vibrant even if they only get a single sentence or action each week. Great work! That's always nice to hear. It makes me feel good to have created such interesting characters. (B) What was your overall favorite part of the episode? A Pep Talk and Who's to Blame? Also, loved Erik's line in Separation Anxiety. Yeah, Erik's got such a good voice to use sometimes. (C) What would you rate this episode out of 10? I'm so used to him being almost arrogantly confident on the show that when he hesitates and tells Erik to think over voting out Shambo instead of Ashley, it was the first time I've been thrown out of the fanfic, even if just for no more than thirty seconds. Not your writing. I get John's a rocket scientist, he's got a better edit, and he's playing a lot smarter and safer than I remember him on the show, it's just... weird. Even Nice Ben, Hard-Working Hantz, Challenge Throwing Swan, and No Complaints Jaison I just accepted and move on. I'm... not sure where I originally started with this because I think I answered my own question, =P. Umm... we've already seen both Russells throw a challenge for the good of their tribemates on the opposing team. Dave, Erik, Ben, Betsy, Liz, Mick I can agree with your opinion on John, but really, I view him as more dynamic than Marcus or Mick. Definitely more personality.

The Liz and Ben rivalry is great and I hope it continues far into the season like Sandra & JFP. Yeah, that was one of my major gripes with Samoa is that it was all about Russell and how Russell was smart and no one else had a brain. And that meant disappointment (for others) when Natalie won.
