I think the overall scenario is pretty sound. I can easily see Kendall coming in 4th. She was awful on semis week 3, but I am still amazed they didn't send her to the wildcard anyway, given the pathetic choices they did make and her weak competition.

Here are my (few) disagreements: 1) NO WAY does Nick Mitchell get picked for top 24. He was a joke pick who they gambled (correctly) wouldn't be one of the top 3 people in his group. Of the six guys not picked on the list, I do think Kris would have been the most likely to get the call instead. But I agree that he was no sure thing for top 12 guys. 2) Much as I liked Kristen McNamara and wanted to see her get well into the top 12, she was put into a sing-off and also wouldn't have been picked for top 12 women. Jessica Langseth likely would have been picked instead. I agree with the other 10 non-picks.

Then, in the top 24: 3) on the female side, Jackie & Megan would NOT have survived a 3 week elimination. Both were horrible in the semis and I think they would have been gone very fast. More likely to make the cut: Ann Marie & Mishovanna. 4) on the male side, I can see Jorge making the cut over Matt Giraud, though I admit this is on shakier ground.

In my alternate S8, this then gives us 4 people who didn't make "our" top 12: Ann Marie Boskovich, Mishovanna Henson, Ricky Braddy and Kendall Beard (instead of Alexis, Michael, Megan and Matt). I won't try to pick a top 12 ranking for this, though I do think it's a stronger group. The most amusing possibilities are for the women. Tatiana might have kicked ass in the semis and made it to the top 12 as one of the best women. Alexis might have gotten through and then made it much further. Given the pathetic season we DID have, it's certainly fun to speculate.

People may hate Adam (and he's given us LOTS of reasons to- Ring Of Fire, kissing guys on national TV, etc) but I didn't see how anybody can deny he's got plenty of singing ability. ElmoElmo is obviously one of those people who just can't be reasoned with. One more thing: people need to reserve the word 'douche' for Danny Gokey.

If my slightly adjusted What If scenario has Jasmine making the top 12, I apologize. I didn't go thru every singer when I made my suggested adjustments. Let me set the record streight: I do not believe that Jasmine would have survived 3 weeks of top 24-type semis (even against some pretty weak competition), though I don't dislike her nearly as much as some people seem to. Also, I can see how people think she's a lot like Lisa Tucker but I think Lisa is a much better singer.
