Years before (in a different house in a different town), my dad had used one with my older brothers and sisters and suggested we contact a certain 'spirit' that had always responded to them. He told me its name and said that it always started with "Long time no see" when they started. I went back to my friends', we called out the name my dad had given me, and sure enough, it responded with "Long time no see." I wasn't touching the board and had told no one about the phrase. We finally decided to stop using it altogether when I was sitting with a friend and said casually, "Meh...I'm sure there's a logical reason for all this stuff...this place isn't haunted!" and the ashtray he had been using jumped off the floor and flipped over. No one was near it. That was it. No more Ouija board, no more playing around. You wouldn't get me to play with one again for a million dollars. Yeah, THAT... and more. I will not talk about it.

Eh, I don't know about that. If there is a force that exists outside of the physical world, it would definitely be beyond our control and could certainly be malevolent. Until I knew for sure one way or another, I wouldn't feel much comfort.

(it was hell on our fingertips)

Was it the Munchkin coroner? A long, long ass time ago, I had a friend who had a Ouija board, and after she played it one day, it freaked her out, so she threw it away. 4 days later, we found it on her front porch. I didn't believe that it just appreaed and that she just got it out of the trash and di that, so he had me throw it away at my house...four days after the garbage man took it away...it appeared on her front porch. She could have bought a new one, but it wasn't likely.

No one was near it. Again, while this was undoubtedly frightening, I'd actually find this exciting after thinking about it. If there is a force that exists outside of the physical world, it would definitely be beyond our control and could certainly be malevolent. Yet it only does so if you plop a board game down in front of it? If you're experience stuff like in Paranormal Activity, that's one thing, but if all it does is flip over ashtrays when you willingly summon it, then it can't likely do much harm. Here's the thing: virtually all Ouija board experiences are nothing more than the participants moving the thing around themselves, consciously or not. It would be far more impressive if people didn't have to hold the thing and it moved around by itself. If it's too heavy for a spirit to lift, then all you should have to do is put an iPhone on the ground with the virtual keyboard booted up...if ghosts can make electric lights flicker then they should be able to work a touch screen.
