What on earth is taking so long for Survivor DVD's from the remaining seasons to be on the market? I am getting the shakes over this.

If the release Marquesas, Guatemala and Paname I'll be able to forgive them for taking so long. But yea there is no real excuse.

I'm super surprised that Amazon and Micronesia arent on DVD, it's mind boggling. |

A production company typically wants to be able to make a profit from the products they make. DVD sets of unreleased Survivor seasons would probably sell about
ten copies.

CBS/Paramount clearly doesn't want people watching seasons 3-6. They don't release the DVD's and shut down any attempt for people to watch the
content.

At this point I would settle for an iTunes release of 3-6, but even that looks grim.

The last season that was released was Vanuatu at the end of 2006. Since there haven't been any official releases since then (not including iTunes) I think
it is safe to say that CBS is not going to release anything anytime soon. IMO it is a bunch of bullsh*t and a slap in the face of every single Survivor fan!

They should have released Africa and The Amazon during the airings of Gabon and Tocantins. |

There's got to be a reason.
Maybe the legal thing about giving Big Tom and Lex money from Africa has something to do with that season. And maybe they don't want to give us Thailand because Brian would sue for some sort of compensation. And maybe CBS doesn't want any backlash for showing un-blurred footage of Jenna and Heidi stripping for chocolate. |

I disagree that Survivor sets would only sell 10 copies. I mean I know there are a lot of people on this message boards and probably several others that would
go and buy them. They should do what LOST does and release them before Christmas for Christmas presents.

Palau was released before Vanuatu!
But I think they should release Heroes vs. Villains when the season's over. And if this is the last season, they'll have to do something! |

oh ehm gee wrote: It's not that they don't make any money rather than the fact that they don't make enough money to impact the bottom line of large companies such as CBS or Paramount. You would be surprised how many really old TV shows have been released on DVD by small distributers such as Shout!. Even long forgotten shows from the 1950's and 1960's such as the Milton the Monster cartoon series and Honey West (starring Ann Margaret) are available on DVD. I doubt that either of those are big money makers. Once Survivor is off the air, it is likely that CBS/Paramount will sell the rights to Survivor to a smaller distributer since they won't make any money off of it from syndication anyway (especially since Fox is pulling the plug on its Reality channel). It would be nice if CBS/Paramount would at least release Africa, Marquesas, Thailand and Amazon on DVD since you can't buy any of the first 8 seasons on iTunes. |

The problem that they have where DVDs are concerned is the marketing for them. When other seasons were put out on DVD, you wouldnt really know about it because
there were hardly any commercials promoting it. Survivor should prepare the DVD throughout the season and then Jeff Probst can promote it during the reunion
and give everyone in the audience a free copy to generate buzz. I really doubt its a matter of selling copies, because television shows that dont even reach a
million viewers get put out on DVD.
