I've posted twice in this thread in the last month and the Jason Mraz mention was 3 weeks and 10 pages ago and was in regard to a successful strategy for
attractive pricing to move CDs at HMV that might work for Kris.

SuBo cockblocked GaGa from the #1 album this week too. After 62 weeks on the chart, The Fame has increased to number 2 (from a past peak of #4), yet SuBo
stopped her from reaching the apex.
~SuBo pwning peoples' opening weeks~ Week 1: Andrea Boccelli, Adam Lambert, Lady GaGa (kinda), Rihanna, Shakira Week 2: R. Kelly Week 3: Glee Cast, Chris Brown Week 4: Alicia Keys Week 5: Mary J. Blige Week 6: Lady GaGa* (not opening but blocked from #1) This week, Ke$ha looks to challenge SuBo for that top spot. Will Ke$ha surprisingly dethrone the current queen, or will SuBo pwn yet another victim? |

*Adam Lambert 3rd album 434,000 Adam has ONE official album. it's called For Your Entertainment. However, IF you're going to count Adam's albums that way then Kris has three albums too... His current album, the AI album and Brand New Shoes a "pre-idol" indie album. Also david cook as a pre-idol album analog heart. I know this cuz I own it and love it. also what does the * by some of their names mean anyway? usually is some astericks something they explain it at the end. |

^^ These ONLY represent albums that were on the BB200. They include all the albums that have been on the BB200, and do not include any albums that have not
been on the BB200. Its the standard by which the industry measures sales. *Shrugs*
As I explained before, both Adam and Kris (each) had an album of "Favorite Performances" released before their current albums that made the BB200. In addition, Adam had a 2nd album that also made the BB200 of "Pre-Idol" songs. So his current album is his 3rd on the BB200, and that's the way its recorded in the above list. For example, you want me to include Kris' pre-idol indie album, but that didn't make the BB200. Adam actually has 3 albums that made the BB200, and Kris has two. Also, David Cook's pre-idol album Analog Heart did not make the BB200, so it is not included on the above list, either. As they say, it is what it is! :) |

Actually, I should be even more precise. Some of the albums at the bottom of the list did not make the BB200, but the SALES NUMBERS were supplied to USA Today
are by Billboard itself, and are considered official numbers. But those are waaaay at the bottom. For example, I know Lakisha Jones made the BB200 with
4,000. And I'm not sure about Ayla Brown or others below her.

It's interesting to see them supplied all in one place like that. also, didn't realize that Adam's unauthorized album was still on the BB200... what # did it come in at this week?? (if you know)

People need to stop counting pre-Idol albums when talking about sales figures. A self-made album or one on a tiny indie label, available at bars the singer is
playing at or by mail order, simply isn't the same thing as one put out by 19Evil (or whoever) and promoted on national media. The ONLY pre-Idol album that
qualifies is Carly's. It's fine to use "3rd CD" and such for when you're talking about the singer's background, influences, etc. But
leave it for places where it fits.
Nobody so far has mentioned the incredibly ass-kissing interview USA Today did tuesday with the guy who is promoting Susan Boyle's CD. He happily took the credit for the CD's sales. It would have been great if the reporter had instead said "Isn't the album just a freak hit that everybody is buying for their grandmother or to diss people like Lady Gaga? I don't think you have much to do with it's success at all." With 220,000 or so CDs sold, Kris is still somewhere in Kimberley Locke territory, and about 30,000 behind Blake Lewis (6th best selling 2nd place finisher out of 8) and even William Hung! |

How many albums did Hung sell with his first album? He'll probably end up out selling Madam as well. I think Kris will outsell Blake Lewis but gold looks like a real uphill climb..

Idol Album Sales ^^ My source is Idol Chatter, and also Soundscan, when I could get hold of that information. Remember that this list only represents albums on the BB200, so once an album falls off the BB200, its sales are no longer recorded by Billboard. Every album listed has sold slightly more, but the numbers are negligible because the label only ships so many. True, there are digital album downloads, but not so many that that makes a difference either. Anyway, the numbers are never perfect, but they're damn close! You can check them against any other source and you'll see that is so. Sorry if your Idol didn't sell what you wanted them to! (Also, I removed the asterisk from Adam's pre-Idols songs album, that was there in error; it is no longer on the BB200) Here are the current Idol albums on this week's BB200: Albums BB200 (7): - 0 Idol albums in the Top 10: - 1 Idol album in the Top 20: Carrie Underwood #17 - 1 Idol album in the Top 40: Adam Lambert #36 - 2 Idol albums in the Top 100: Daughtry 2nd album #63, Kris Allen #91 - 3 Idol albums in the Top 200: Kelly Clarkson #159, Daughtry 1st album #185, Allison Iraheta #186 |

Wow, thanks for the list of albums. It's a little confusing but lots of cool info. For some reason I thought William Hung had sold more albums. I think Carrie's current album should pass Cook's pretty soon. And hopefully Kris will catch up to Blake and pass him eventually.
It may or may not.

Adam is a flop. He'd disappear except that Kris is the lowest Idol winner ever. RCA can't give up on Adam because at least he's still selling
some albums. They'll probably payola the single as far up the charts as they can get. Oprah will give the album a boost as well but probably temporary. He
doesn't seem to have any appeal to a younger audience at all.
