Of the early seasons, PI had decent weather, lots of fish in the ocean, and even at Morgan tribe, things weren't THAT bad. Marquesas wasn't Club Med, but didn't seem too tough. Can't remember Vanuatu too well, and of course, on Palau, it was a tale of two different tribes, worlds apart. But still, I don't recall the weather being a huge factor.
I don't recall EI or CI one way or another, really. Fiji is blocked from my brain. Seriously, China, Gabon, Tocantins, and Samoa just seem to be a joke, from a survival standpoint, from what I can recall as compared to most of the earlier seasons. Have the producers just decided the audience is tired of seeing that side of the show, so no point in putting the castaways through rough conditions anymore?
And of course, in ASS and FvF, they were treated like freakin' Cinderellas, shit. (Minus some Mogo Mogo misery, as I remember it.)
All in all, the "survival" side of the game seems to have gotten a lot easier over the years when it comes to food/water supply, amenities (tools, furniture, blankets, etc.), and weather conditions. Would love to see a "back to the basics season," in more ways than one.
