The show isn't supposed to be about anything than what the contestants make of it. Sixteen recruits are just as likely to be interesting as sixteen applicants, there is no correlation with quality and fans of the show. Also, it's hard for me to believe that people would willingly go on Survivor, recruited or not, and not appreciate the show on some level. I can only think of a handful of contestants who genuinely didn't give a shit about the show one way or another.

I guess Fairplay was kind of the first example of that. And the older contestants were older and more family/religious oriented, so they probably don't party at all.

It was true joy, true caring. I mean we have Sean Rector who is Vecepisa babies godfather. Tammy had Pappy marry her, stuff like that. The Post ASS folk seem close as well.
