Ginnifer Goodwin is radiant. Why isn't she more famous?

I miss the Beach Boys opening and I agree the episode did seem a bit all over the place. I guess they wanted to give everyone a little something to do even if
it seemed disjointed. Barn - I agree, GG is radiant. I wonder if anyone has notifed Rhonda that "old Roman" is dead?

Why would they notify Rhonda when the rest of Juniper Creek doesn't even know yet? And does anyone know where Rhonda is anyway?

My prob is I watch this show because i like the family dynamic and find it interesting and the conflict with the Juniper Creek people is enough external
conflict. But I just don't care about these business ventures. Usually the business stuff is kept more in the background but it was so forefront in this
episode, I found it difficult to pay attention because my mind just kept wanting to wander.
I like the show better when they're dealing with the prospect of a 4th wife, not when they're doing weird business deals. |

Didn't we last see Rhonda getting into that 18 wheeler? Or was she ever shown to have gotten to her destination?
I do not understand Frank and Lois. So she invited him over to try to rekindle their relationship? As soon as she left her apartment door open I just knew that he was going to bust in and try to kill her again. I also really thought he had been killed last season when she tried to suffocate him. Oh well, maybe this season... There was just a frentic, 3 stooges feel to the episode tonight. I didn't like it but hopefully next week it will calm down a bit and get into the good stuff. |

I do not believe even Rhonda knew what her destination was when she left. She's either never to be heard from again or she'll show up now that Roman is
dead. I bet it's the former, although I hope I am wrong.
The Lois leaving the apartment door open bothered me, especially after we saw her take the time to lock it 5 times over when Ben came over to drop off the bird money. Why would she suddenly become so careless? |

Mandie wrote:Yup. I completely agree with this. It's the relationships that are interesting, and also, I am usually kind of amazed that they portray the nuances of SLC (and Sandy) life. They get so many subtle things right that I, having grown up there, am usually amazed. When they get something like this gambling casino so wrong it's really annoying. The Blackfoot reservation, just past Pocatello is over 2 1/2 hours away, not "85 minutes." (and that is if it's not snowing) But the bottom line is that, although the politics of this whole thing, the bank, the church, even the polygamy raids and roadblocks at times have been very "true" and interesting--in small doses. This episode just didn't deliver for me. Barb was a hot mess, and they almost justified that--but missed. Nicky was compelling, as usual, but they left so much dangling and it felt far too contrived. Marge is radiant, and I guess they were showing her checking out of the family and into her own life. The parents trying to kill each other was funny, but slapstick, and I kept telling myself that the bird wranglers are taking care of those birds (in other words, distracted, not what I think the writers were going for.) For the first time I was seeing far too much, "I don't buy this" instead of "wow, this is so good." The garage band being a welcomed substitute for Kenny Rogers was just icing on a messy, messy cake. If this had been the first episode I ever saw, I wouldn't be tuning back in. Luckily, it wasn't--and hopefully they will get back on track. |

Barb didn't say Ben's band was in place of Kenny Rogers. She said they were an opening act. And Kenny's plane was delayed, but not canceled.
Perhaps we are supposed to assume Kenny Rogers did show up and play??? We barely saw any of the opening night party after all.

Last season dealt with a shitload of storylines and drama so well, creating really intense episodes. This premiere just felt like they were going for the same
kind of feeling, but tried a little too hard or something, idk? Kind of confusing.

I liked it and I think you're all nitpicking because it's been gone for so long.

I agree about the nitpicking. Not to mention that they had to tie up a bunch of loose ends that were left from last season and add some juice in there for this
season.
I was satisfied with the ep. JMO. |

What did Bill do with frozen Roman?

They took him back to Juniper Creek and left him there, with Adaleen I presume.

Not being from Utah/Idaho, the discrepancies about the convenience of gambling on the Blackfoot reservation never entered my mind (until reading comments
here). I expect the majority of viewers are as clueless as I and will just accept the storyline as given.
Relax and just enjoy the ride. There's very little else on the tube as good as this show. |

The gambling nonsense was only part of why I found the opening kind of disappointing. The whole episode felt more annoying that intriguing. I mentioned those
issues (which I have been aware of and easily ignored or accepted up to now) because the climax scene was pathetic, and the whole damn show revolved around it.
As others have said, less business, more character focus please.
Pathetic tent in a deserted scrub-brush and dirt setting, everything looked low-rent, even the pricey and non-iced crab legs. Barb, who is usually compelling, was just annoying. Roman sitting in that chair, or hell, even being in the freezer, seemed to be going for cheap laughs--but either thing could have worked, but, for me, it really didn't. As I said, I hope they were just trying to set up a bunch of future good stuff--but as a season opener? With proper editing, it could have been much better--but it's as if they didn't want to leave anything out, (parents slapstick murder attempts, for example, boy band for another) and in doing so--they just didn't give the rest of the scenes enough emotional payoff or context. The mother collapses and scene. ? There was some good stuff in there too, Nicky and her daughter, for just one example. It just felt frantic, sit-comish, and out of balance. |

I agree with the nitpicking. I thought it was pretty good, and i am glad that it is back.
We have 2 casinos within 30 minutes of us, but when a new one opens up a couple of hours away people go to it, even if it is just a couple of times. Not that big of a deal. I liked that Barb was a little crazy and that Margene was more "together." |

I was tired of the skating intro, I like the falling one! | ||

I believe Lois invited Frank over because she's tired of living in fear of him (she tried to murder him last season) and she knows he'll let her live
if she gets him some money selling the smuggled birds.
Cara Lynn is really creepy ( killing frogs last season) and her pappy is equally nuts. I LOVE ADALEEN! More Nicki, please! Lura had a Coors, didn't she? Alby's married to Glory and Connie. He took Glory off the schedule. No sex for her from "father". (Alby) Rhonda was last seen in a truck with a pervert, poor girl is probably a hooker now. I'm glad Alby's finally getting what he's been craving. Watching birds, indeed. I miss the Greenes. Particulary Selma. I want Margie to grow her hair back. |

WTF was up with the new opening? It's not Big Love without The Beach Boys and Jeanne's look as the ice starts cracking.

I haven't watched the episode, but why the fuck did they change the opening credits? The old credits were the best on TV.

Because Bill and his wives are long past the days of happy, shiny GOD ONLY KNOWS WHAT I'D BE WITHOUT YOU treacle. The family's headed for disaster.
Have we not been watching?
