Remove this ad I'm pretty sure a lot of the S19 Jury's angst was omitted to make for a few minutes of suspense. Russell had already comitted too much crap to ever win. SFnet has an article on Hatch which includes his analysis on Fatty's 'game'.

No one seriously considered axing him because they knew they could beat him. In Survivor, to win, you have to do two things. A) Not get eliminated before the F2/F3 B) Get the most votes in the F2/F3 That is it. Nothing else matters. And that's what Natalie understood, and Russell didn't.

As to those of you who keep insisting that the entire FF final three was only because of Russ you need to do a bit of math. As far as I know, Russ had only one vote.... WITHOUT Nat, Jaison and Mick staying strong, Russ would have been out at final 9 or 8 or 7. (I bet most of you armchair quarterbacks believe you could win the game. LOL Put your money where your mouth is, apply and get on the show then come back and tell us about deserving.) Best move in the game? Jaison saying out loud that he was not going to vote Monica like Eric was dictating to the FF as they sat on that log. THEN it was because Natalie had the trust of the Galu women that they (Laura, Monica, Kelley) turned on Eric. And what role did Russ play during this little period? I didn't see him do anything spectacular. So if Jaison had not put his foot down about being told who to vote out and Natalie not getting in good with Galu, Russ would have been out the week after Monica was voted out. Bank on it. It is clear to all but the blind that the strength of FF was that they ALL STUCK TOGETHER. Russ was only 1/4 of that equation. Besides to me anyone who can go 36 days without food, sleep or killing someone (Shambo) deserves to win. All of the FF made moves (well maybe not so much Mick) to get to the final three. How they got there isn't relevant. They all deserved the chance to earn the votes. Russ being an arrogant ass and believing that he did not need to make any connections with anyone iw what cost him the game. Kilbar is 100% right. To win you have to get to the F2/F3 AND you need to get the most votes. Period.

It's also what Sandra understands that no other player seems to get, as well.

I think whats sadder is that Russel HIMSELF doesn't seem to understand this. He this he "manipulated" his way to the finals. Its like....uh...no. They LET you get there because they knew you wouldn't win.

Post merge he just needed to play the idol and next thing ya know he has numbers on his side so he doesn't need to do any more manipulating.

Mick and Jaison had conversations of possibly taking him out because he was, visibly, the leader of the Foa Foa four. The reason Russell was not taken out earlier was because the four had to stick together until it was just them. They knew they had to get rid of Brent otherwise he would have won. I think Russell could have gone at final four is Brent was taken out. Also, without Russell, Natalie would not have won the game.
