I read Fatal Vision pretty early on too. I remain convinced that he did it. One of those cases where the blood told the tale. You can follow the entire crime by the blood in that apartment. iirc, other than the wig hair, there is no evidence at all of anyone being in the place except for the family.
Ooh, and then there's the case of Kenneth Bianchi. and his cousin, Angelo Buono, The Hillside Stranglers. When I was reading a book on the case, I'll never forget one part where they were investigating the murders of two girls they had found in a car. It said they had put up these lights and layed a sheet out on the ground. When they lifted a body out, a pubic hair fell on the sheet! I was like, Who the hell had the eagle eyes?
