Good God that memphis 3 stuff is hard to watch!
So heartbreaking! I watched part 1. I'm switching to Modern Family on Hulu. |

I haven't read much, except Helter Skelter. Most of what I learn comes from TV shows like City Confidential (which I haven't seen in ages). They used
to have marathon days with story after story of these murdering creeps. Really interesting.

Paul Winfield was the narrator. i will never forget the one episode that was about a murder within the KKK. you could hear the glee in his voiceover when he said, "and the Klan, an organization not known for it's intelligence...." my friend and i almost fell off the couch from laughing so hard. |

When I was a kid we would tell stories about the Oakland Child Killer. OMG! He's at your bedroom door.

awww, bless little Eddie Kemper's heart!!! "What do you think when you see a pretty girl walking down the street?" "One side of me says, 'I'd like to talk to her, date her'. The other side of me says , 'I wonder how her head would look on a stick?" |

I was on the same football team (in fact, I was standing right next to him) as Mind Control Killer.
Nobody knew he was a hardcore racist who stabbed his neighbor more than 30 times with a kitchen knife just because he feel like it. |

In part one I didn't see much evidence for Hobbs being the killer, except everyone involved seemed like they were not dealing with reality. |

Is this the thread where I admit that I actually know someone on death row? (and yeah, he deserves to die, painfully)

A Guy I know from my hometown. And as cliche as it sounds? He was, or always seemed to be, a really nice, mellow, guy. Never saw him drink, he was always in
the bars to dance, he loved to dance and everyone danced with him. So one night I guess he snapped. He met up with some girl (who I don't know), raped her,
beat her. raped and sodomized her with a tree branch, and stabbed her over 30 times, then dumped her body on the east side of town and caught a ride home. IIRC
he assaulted a guard, who later died, while in prison. Some creepy details are here http://www.lawskills.com/case/id/798/index.html
Another dude who I knew got hooked on crack and brutally murdered his parents and sister while high as shit and looking for money. He was 19. His sister was a good friend. This was years ago and I've only visited there a few times in 20 years, crime/crack are horrific there. |

Jeebus Kitten, that's pretty hideous. How does one go from being relatively normal to violating someone so horribly? Seems like there should be some lead
up to that kind of violence, you know, start off with being beating someone up, but not killing them. It freaks me out when people snap like that b/c it means
it can happen to anyone.

I just finished reading Stranger in The Family about Danny Starrett who sexually molested several girls and killed one in and around Augusta GA in the late
80s. He ended up with 6 or 10 life sentences without parole in SC and GA. The book was not very good as it was written mainly about his family, his mom, who
couldn't accept that her yuppieish son could do this even after he confessed. It was slanted towards him not being a bad guy. Screw that. I don't
recommend the book.

BBB, to this day we all still wonder what happened there, no past hx or any signs he may be violent. I won't lose sleep when he's executed.

God, I've read so many true crime books it's hard to find some favorites....there was one written about the Jacine Gielinski murder (where I worked for
the sheriff's dept that arrested and held the idiots, George Woldt and Lucas Salmon in jail.) Got to read some of the police report, it was the sickest one
I had seen in a long time.
The book is called Partners in Evil - the author writes about Colorado true crime. http://www.amazon.com/Partners-Evil-Shocking-Fantasy-Turned/dp/0786015217 http://www.highbeam.com/doc/1P2-5943528.html The Michigan Murders is another good one..the guy is still in prison in Marquette - tried to change his name but epically failed. |
