So when you said:
why is it not counting the profits in the first 5 years we'll collect and put into the program? What did you really mean by 'profits'? |

I meant revenues that would be paying for the program. Essentially, the chart is insinuating that the program will leave a huge budget deficit, when that
isn't exactly true (specially when comparing to the deficit without the bill).

It's pretty simple.
Per Pat Robertson, the devil made some agreement with Haiti a couple of hundred years ago for independence. It's the revenge of the French. Per Rush Limbaugh, your tax dollars are already paying for Haiti. Take your pick. Not sure which one is more accurate or insane. |

Taxes are now profit? That is whacked!
If the public option worked like an insurance company and only funded itself from premium payments paid for by people paying for the insurance maybe you could consider it to be competitive with normal companies. But if you allow this public option company to suck money from other citizens in the form of taxes, or to take money in any way from people who don't pay premiums or receive insurance from this entity then it can't possibly be considered a fair competitor. How anyone can think that such a company could generate such a large profit so as to pay it's excess money into the treasury to lower the deficit is beyond believability. |
