It probably would've been best for her to not have tried to rock the boat because she was in a great position where she was. If she made the merge, I have no doubt she would've won.

Posts: 1893 (01/16/10 10:58 AM) Registered User Reply Quote More Recent Posts	I just finished watching Vanuatu and I 2 people impressed me a lot more the 2nd time around. Twila being the first. She might have been loud, but she played the game hard. She came up with the HUGE move that got Ami and Leann out of power and sweared on her sons life to advance in the game and had no issues lying to anyone to get to the finals, I think she played a very strong game. The second was actually Julie. I had no idea why, but during the original airing of Vanuatu I didn't like her at all. But being older now, she REALLY did do a lot. She was a silent force who had many backup plans, and was in one of the more solid positions throughout the entire game. When the tribes were mixed up, she got herself close to the older men of the tribe and successfully kept herself safe. Then when the merge hit, she knew that she was one of the least threatening because nobody wanted to take her out, even if the girls were to turn on each other, she wouldn't be targeted. After the blindside of Leann, Julie worked REALLY hard on Chris and she almost had him. I still think Chris was IMMENSLY lucky because he was so stupid and went into the final challenge with 2 people who would 100% take each other to finals if they won. There was absolutely no reason he couldn't have forced a tie at final 4 as he had immunity.

Even if it went down to the rocks, he would stay, and he'd have a shot at saving Eliza. But oh well. Maybe he noticed Twila was too good of a goat to pass up, while I can perfectly see Ami, Leann, Julie and maybe even Scout voting for Eliza over Chris.

But since it was first used on Palau to decide who would be the last Ulong standing between Steph and BJ, there's the possibility that they didn't think of a better tie-breaker yet on Vanuatu, which would make the rocks necessary. But it's hilarious how ONE instance of purple rock made people too scared to force a tie for five consecutive seasons.

Remove this ad Yeah, it bothers me when people are too much of a pussy to force the rock, even when it could benefit them. Mind you, doesn't bug me as much as the people with most votes being immune from drawing, but that's a whole other issue.

Where did that come from anyway? It's even further disincentive for the players. The producers hated ties and wanted to do everything they could to make the players disinclined to force them. As a disincentive, I think it's genius. "OK, guys, if you insist on tying the vote? Not only do you now run a risk going home, but you know that person you really wanted to vote out? Yeah? Well, tie the vote and they've now got a 100% chance of staying. So. Your call." Personally, I hate the purple rock rule, because I really liked tie votes back when the tie-breaker was previous votes. I thought that added a really cool strategic component to the game. But the producers didn't like them, and I do have to admire them for coming up with something really effective in making tie votes before the F4 a thing of the past. Credit where it's due: they did an amazing job of ensuring that it just doesn't happen anymore. I was so bummed when John flipped in Samoa. Not because I gave a shit about any of the cast on that wretched season, but just because I really wanted to see a group finally call the producers' bluff and take their chances with the damn rocks. Oh well. Sigh. Maybe someday...

This guy was the oldest guy on Sook Jai, and he lasted the longest. He had a good enough head on his shoulders to pick the young, fitter contestants, and getting rid of Jed had nothing to do with him. He was the only person in the F6 of Thailand actively onto Brian's F2 goat alliance with Clay.

Sure, she was physically weak, but then again, she actually did a lot of the physical challenges and, based on who was used for challenges, she was at least as strong as Theresa. Also, she wasn't just a pawn of the Boran guy alliance like is often said of her. She was actually shown to at least be weighing her options, even if she was never going to follow through with a switch-up. Some criticize her for not joining the Samburu girls, claiming she had no shot against the guys, but really, that wasn't that great of an option either. All she would have done was exchange 4th place for 3rd (she couldn't assume she would win the final immunity), and even if she did make the F2 in that situation, she probably would have been grilled for gasp being a grandmother and daring to play the game (). She knew she had to win the last few immunities to stay in the game, which she did and was able to get second place. ^_^ She played the best game she could and got as far as she could with a group that was never going to give her a million dollars anyway.

It is true that Kim Johnson would probably not beat any of the final 7 left in the game. However, I remember reading her Africa interview on CBS. Some fan wrote down, "Which survivor castmate did she think she was able to beat in the final 2." Kim said that she thinks that she could have easily beaten Kelly, Frank, Theresa, and Kim P. in the final vote. That makes her choice of aligning with the Boran 3, even more confusing. What's the whole point of aligning with Lex, Ethan, and Tom if she thought she could easily beat Theresa and Kim P? (She is quite delusional if she thought she could beat Theresa). Heck what was the whole point of even voting off Kelly, when she could have convinced her teammates to vote off say Brandon ( a person she didn't say she could beat)? This is why I do think Kim J. is a sucky player.

She was just outnumbered. - Paschal (Marquesas): To me, he should have won. I hate that stupid purple rock mainly because it was not his fault considering he did not get a vote cast against him. I understand why Neleh and Kathy should've gone through that process but Paschal is by far the most screwed player in survivor history because he did have a good game and his was defeated by chance only. Sorry Russell he has it FAR worse. - Rafe (Guatemala): Everyone forgot that season but I enjoyed it more than half of the others. Rafe was a force and was more threatening than any of the big muscular guys. - Ken (Gabon): I think up until he voted against Matty, Ken could've won this. Because of that, people started doubting him and he got booted, which is unfortunate because from all the people in that season he deserved it the most. Plus he plays Melee... yeah! - Earl (Fiji): While Fiji was meh, a lot of people don't give credit to Earl. He wasn't as strategical as Yau Man but he did call a few of the shots there. When friends betray each other in the show like he did with Yau he gave the best reason: "It's because I cannot win against you". That alone is a proof he is very underrated as not just a winner but a survivor too. - Danielle (Panama): I can see why there is controversy why she is back, but honestly she did play a good game. She did help save Bruce and vote Bobby out and ousty Terry was a smart move on her part. - Parvati (Micronesia): It's sad she is getting so much hatred for winning and honestly, while Cirie was doing most of the hard work, Parvati did play a huge role in the alliance too. When it came down to the all-star winners, I'd pick her over Amber any day. - Stephen (Tocatins): By far the most underrated player. He was as good as JT and I have to give him balls for being honest about wanting to vote out JT when Debbie asked him. I would have gave him my vote right there because every sane person would've done that. Stephen had as much influence as JT in their decisions but because he wasn't as charming, JT squashed him, which is unfortunate because I believe he did deserve one vote.
