What was the thing about Nicky's ex having no fingernails?
|

Sardonically Irreverent |

Whatever bugged me about last week was gone. I loved tonight's episode. It felt like Big Love to me.

is the point of bill running for office that his revelations are wrong half the time? it's either a really dumb storyline, because he has too much to lose
with the stores and casino to be under scrutiny while running for office, or it's to show that he's really dumb and driven by ego.
did someone pull out jj's fingernails? it's going to be a freaky reveal, whatever it is.

Does anyone know what JJ has that is "precious" to Wanda?

There is a genetic disroder that causes people not to have fingernails, apparently this can happen as a result of incest.
And apparently it happens in polygamous communties in Utah: http://www.rickross.com/reference/polygamy/polygamy25.html Show just went up a whole new level of creepy! |

Interesting. I wonder if JJ comes from one of the Kingston-like super-incestuous groups. OR, perhaps he and his sister have a child too.
That was a good link, here's more information, covering lots of different polygamy groups. The AUB group seems to be a bit like what Bill has in mind. I like the run-for-office story much more than the casino story. If someone successfully ran and then exposed themselves as a fundamentalist polygamist with no incest or of child-abuse (marrying underage or unwilling girls) it could really shake up SLC and Utah. It would take a short election like this one to pull it off--and wow would there be fireworks. The church, the state (same thing really) but also nationally. Utah's careful erasure of the polygamist past would be explosive, someone speaking out publicly and without the typical black-marks of welfare abuse and forcing people into marriage, a regular guy who owns businesses, devoutly talking about Joseph Smith and Brigham Young and the politics of giving up a core Church belief would rock a lot of people's worlds. It would get wild there if this happened. So, I think I am looking forward to this happening. It has enough "real" in it, and certainly enough story, while keeping it about the characters too, to be potentially amazing.

Someone on IMDb speculated that the no fingernails thing is either incest related or the result of Nicki poisoning him ( |

I think Wanda would have been more likely to poision him than Nikki. Wanda clearly hates him and she has no problem trying to poision anyone that crosses her!

Loved last night's episode so much!
So what about Nikki's crying at the end, when Sarah <3, was getting married? What was on her mind? |

If no fingernails = incestuous polygamists. Could it be that JJ was referring to a three-headed, tailed, web footed incest baby he and Wanda spawned?

I agree last night's episode was much better than the premiere. More family, less casino. I'm trying to keep an open mind about the politics
storyline since Sissy Spacek has a major part in it.
I think Nikki crying was her realization that she will never have what Sarah had at that moment. The freedom to do what she wants without the confines of religion and having one man who would love her and only her. In some ways maybe Nikki is losing some of her faith in polygamy. I hate Bill. For once I want all his big plans to come crashing down on him. He never appreciates what he has and he's always reaching for more. He's just a greedy, plain and simple. |

Actress Chloe Sevigny was devastated when an usher stood on her designer dress and ripped it at Sunday's Golden Globes - because until that moment she had felt elated at her first-ever award win. The blonde star was handed the Best Supporting Actress in a TV Series honour for her role as a fundamentalist Mormon wife in U.S. show Big Love, and picked out a one-off Valentino number for the glitzy event in Los Angeles. She was left devastated when the usher who directed her to the podium caught her dress as he walked away. But Sevigny is adamant it didn't ruin her night - and she is planning a boozy party to celebrate the win once she gets back to her adopted hometown of New York. She tells UsMagazine.com, "(The dress) just spoke to me. (I felt) amazing. Unfortunately, the gentleman who escorted me up to the stage when I won this grand award stepped on it as he was walking away and tore it. So now it is slightly more tattered even after the rain. I love the gown. "I'll probably celebrate with my girlfriends when I go back home to New York. They'll all come over and drink champagne, and we'll have a dance party."

So far, I find this season to be meh. The storylines don't seem plausible. I miss Roman. I hope and pray that was not the end of hot DA Ray.

Bill is willing to ruin the lives of his entire family -- for what? Promotion of the Principle? Grrr, I hate religious people. I'm concerned as to where
this storyline will go, but it's so frustratingly accurate in depicting Bill's passions as megamaniacal. This is exactly what a man in his position
would do. He already thinks of himself as some sort of unofficial Prophet; I don't understand why Margene and others are surprised that Nikki would just
blatantly want Bill the prophet when he seems to working towards that direction himself.
I think we will look back on the new credit sequence as a wonderful foreshadowing of the season. I find it hypnotic to watch. It's interesting to see who between Margene or Nikki will be the one that breaks from her religious faith.
