Spinoff announced!
RuPaul's Drag U is a spin-off of RuPaul's Drag Race and will see everyday women competing in tasks to become a diva, under the instructions of a team of drag queens. It will debut in July, having been produced by World of Wonder, producers of series such as Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood and Million Dollar Listing. |

From the "behind the scenes" clips:
Apparently before the first episode, the girls were kept in their hotel rooms for 48 hours and were not allowed to leave. They were left with a movie camera they could use to film themselves. I guess the producers really wanted them wound up. I also like the new Absolut Vodka ads by Bebe Zahara Benet, Nina Flowers, Shannell and Ongina. Hmm. I guess Rebecca was not asked. She had difficulty pulling it together for this kind of thing during the season. So far, I don't see very many people on the new season with as colorful a personality of Nina, Shannell or Ongina -- but they'll reveal themselves I hope. There is also a new clip which shows a few minutes of the contestants one-by-one arriving on the stage. Apparently, two different pairs of queens knew each other previously (small drag world, I guess). Pandora Boxx and Nicole Page Brooks were featured on Episode 7 as applicants who almost made Season 1. I'd love to see either of them win. One of the applicants has only been doing drag for five months and doesn't know how to sew. I don't see her lasting long. America's Next Top Model has nothing on this show. The high def video and increased number of contestants and new dressing room shows that Logo decided to put some money into this show after the success of Season 1. I'm hoping it wins the GLAAD Award for Best Reality Program. |

The same night Logo rolls out a second season of RuPaul's Drag Race on February 1, the network will also introduce fans to a new companion series immediately following called RuPaul's Drag Race: Untucked!. The new half-hour series takes viewers behind the scenes of the competition show, revealing a different view of the Drag Race runway and what competitors say about each other. RuPaul's Drag Race: Untucked! debuts at 10p on February 1 and is also produced by World of Wonder. |

that is kind of odd, the untucked thing. i read the stephen saban WOW blog pretty frequently - but i don't check the show pages because they are usually never updated. but, what do you know, they updated the show page to a blog and there is lots of info and vid: http://worldofwonder.net/productions/RuPaul_s_Drag_Race/ and indeed there will be an untucked, 1/2 hour show, i guess sort of a models of the runway, except they are the stylist/designer and the model so......more hijinks and bitchiness and less pageantry? IN.

Did anyone watch the drag standup special on Logo the other night? Ongina hosted, and Jackie Beat, Miss Coco Peru, and Varla Jean Merman performed. The pros were funny as hell, but Ongina was kind of a poor hostess. Not very funny, unfortunately. I wanted so much more from her.
