Wow, this really was surprising. I knew she was sick, but I saw the pic of her with Russell and figured if she was attending parties so recently then she must
have been doing better. Definitely didn't expect this news today. RIP Jenn.
I just went to her page to see what others were posting to her wall, but instead just got the ironically sad Facebook message "Jennifer has no more posts." |

This is so sad =[ Jenn was one of my favorites during Palau, and I can't even fathom that she was the first Survivor contestant out of every season to
pass. A seriously sad day, and probably the suckiest news I've ever seen on Sucks.
Eternal Jenn love. |

Jenn nearly orchestrated the impossible in breaking the Tom-Ian alliance, which next to JT-Stephen was the most dominant twosome in Survivor history. She did
it by being sweet and calm and sneaky-smart, and kept her mouth shut until just the right moment. Had she succeeded in eliminating Ian I would put her in the
hall of fame. And then when she got sick she fought as hard as she did in Palau.
RIP Jenn. You were always into putting up a good fight. |

NlGHTCRAWLER wrote: Well said, NC. On the show she was but briefly highlighted - her role perhaps small against the bigger stories in the game. But afterward, on the stage of life, facing a much more personal drama she showed the world with grace and dignity and openness and humility what a bright light she really was and used that and her brief bit of fame as a vehicle not to elicit sympathy and attention toward her plight, but rather to try and make the world better for all who have faced and will face that dreaded disease and who did not have the same means for drawing awareness and donations to the cause as she did. RIP Jen and to the Survivor Family condolences on this great loss. -QG |

I haven't read this thread. I probably won't. I don't want to read the inevitable posts that are too insensitive and uncaring for the loss of a
beautiful woman, inside and out.
It's weird how those of us who are such huge fans of the show can almost, in a way, grow attached to its participants. We follow them as much as we can, analyze them so much, read everything we can find about them. You almost feel like you know them personally, and when you get glimpses into how they are as people, be it from interviews or second-person accounts or chance encounters, you find things about about them and you get an idea of the kind of human being they are. I've never met Jenn, but I've seen her endure a once-in-a-lifetime experience on Survivor, I've heard her be relaxed and unedited commenting on the DVDs, I've read from people like Coby what an amazing person she was, and I've come to see that deserved a long and fulfilling life. It is a complete and utter shame that that was taken from her. It may seem silly to mourn someone you've never met, but in some way, I feel like I know her, and in no way did she deserve to go, not like this. She seemed incredibly brave, and on top of that you could pile on just about any positive adjective you can think of. I feel for her family and friends, and I mourn their loss. Rest in peace, Ms. Lyon. |
