I don't think I've ever been this excited for a show to start. Can't believe it's less than two months left now!

As a huge fan of the series Band of Brothers I cannot wait for this new series, The Pacific. I hope it will be good as BoB. :)

Saw a preview for this when I went to see Avatar. Really looking forward to it. I was planning on dumping HBO but I guess I have to keep it awhile now.

I'm so excited about this. Band of Brothers was one of the best series in years. I can't wait for the pacific version. Should be great.

OMG the image of the helmet floating down in the underwater promo just wrecked me.
Already I'm sensing that this could surpass Band of Brothers. Whatever DirecTV wants to charge me for HBO in March? I'll pay it. |

I loved Band of Brothers and can't wait for the Pacific addition. I guess it's because I also like real, true life/reality/documentary shows like The
Deadliest Catch on Discovery, Independent Lens, American Experience and Frontline on PBS.
I wish these shows had a following around here too sometimes. No big deal really, If I wanted to, I could go to Discovery or PBS to discuss, but I AM thrilled about the new Pacific version of Band of Brothers. |

Yup. One of the things I loved the most about Band of Brothers was how true it was to what had really happened -- the series seem to portray the war pretty close to what I've read in Stephen Ambrose's book and Major Richard Winters' book. The Pacific seems to be following the same route, being primarily based on two memoirs, so this makes me very hopeful indeed.

The only -- and I mean ONLY -- thing that bothered me about about Band of Brothers is that instead of casting just actors, they casted actors who resembled the real life Dick Winters, Buck Compton, Lt. Spears & so forth.
Not that this was an issue -- I can't see how the knife fight in the barn between Buck Compton and that unfortunate Nazi could've been filmed any more powerfully. Still, Jimmy Fallon as a WW2 hero, if everso briefly? That encounter kinda broke the fourth wall for me. |

Piranhahaha wrote: Yeah, Jimmy Fallon really took me out of the moment when I let out a big, "WTF Jimmy Fallon?!?!" I liked how the other guys were relative unknowns for the most part, though. |

Yeah, I agree with that.
David Schwimmer as Lt. Sobel didn't really work for me either, I just kept thinking of Friends. |

Buck Compton didn't kill the Nazi in the barn, it was Bull. Compton got shot in the ass during the battle before Bull stabbed the guy in the barn.
Jimmy Fallon wasn't that bad in his episode, I don't like the guy who plays Bill Garnier, with his retarded South Philly accent, I don't know where they got that guy from. Nobody sounds like that in Philly. |

Um, didn't you watch the documentary that showed the real guys? The real Bill Garnier talked a LOT like that.

I thought the casting for Garnier was perfect. As soon as I saw that old man I knew Bill made it through the war

I grew up in South Philly, people do not talk like that - he has more of a Fishtown/Kensingto accent. That is the white trash section of Philly. Wild Bill is on radio quite often around here, he doesn't sound like the guy on B.o.B.
Kirk Acevedo did a great job - met him on a few occaisons, as did Donnie Wahlberg as 1st Sgt. Lipton. will any of the cast from B.o.B. appear in the Pacific? I noticed only one so far, the guy who played Pvt. Blithe. |
