I'm with you TiT, I support everybody on this and I'm glad so many people so overwhelmingly showed their concern. However this now seems like nobody
wants to post in Sucks proper because it seems they feel weird about it considering the overall tone here.

I just heard about this and it breaks my heart. No one should die this young.
RIP Jenn. My condolences to her family and friends, especially you, Coby. |

No TiT his real uncle. Because the government wouldn't obviously.

I imagine that since Jenn spent a lot of time fighting to help increase awareness that she wouldn't mind a little discussion of these issues in this thread. Once again my heart goes out to her family and friends. |

Yeah, this should get unstickied before it goes sour or off track, which I fear is already the case.

It's getting ready to turn into a fight about Obamacare.

"Obamacare" ≠ Universal health care, so I don't get what the debate is about. What's being proposed is mandated private insurance with a
couple of new rules for those companies in trade. The uninsured will continue to wait for emergencies until the insured pay for them, we can continue paying
more for less, all is well.

Ladies...PLEASE...beg borrow or steal money for a mammogram, if you don't have insurance.... ( *particularly if there is a family history! Even a paternal
history. My Dr told me, just as Jenn's did, that it wasn't a concern, unless it was on your maternal side. There is NO family history on my mom's
side, but my dad's mom died of breast cancer. And low and behold, I'm STILL the only one on my mom's side who developed breast cancer)
Jenn found a lump, but didn't have insurance, and her Dr wasn't too concerned, so she let it go. My Dr wasn't too concerned for me, either...but the difference is, I live in Canada and am over 40, so I had routine mammograms done once a year. I am so very lucky, and count my blessings for the CDN health care system, every day. Anyway.... MY lump was found by a routine mammogram, when I was 47 ( still considered young, medically, in terms of developing breast cancer ). It was in the early early stages. The lumpectomy ( not even the biopsy picked it up ) showed that I actually had 2 types of cancer, including a more dangerous, invasive, fast growing cancer........so thank goodness for the non-invasive type that the mammogram found! Seriously! Anyway...this isn't about me...what I meant to say was that my surgeon told me by the time you actually FEEL the lump yourself, the cancer will most likely have spread to one's lymph nodes....which is where the danger comes in. Anything smaller than 2 mm ( fortunately, mine was just 2mm and which is ONLY detectable via mammogram ), and one's chances of survival increase to 90%. I had to have a double mastectomy, which was shitty, sure.....but because my lump was so small, and the cancer had NOT spread past the breast wall, I did not have to have radiation or chemo. That was HUGE, in my recovery. HUGE! So please....Ladies....PLEASE.....have a mammogram! Seriously. |

How about you all FOAD and discuss healthcare/insurance/your mother somewhere else?

QualityBobby wrote: Dude....DIAF. The issue with Jennifer's death is that had it been caught sooner, she most likely would have survived. People encouraging others to check their breasts, get mammograms etc is a GOOD thing in the aftermath of Jenn's death. A symptom that someone else had, that someone on the board might be ignoring in themselves which gives them the incentive to check it out could benefit the good of the board. I am sure that Jenn would agree that knowledge is power. |

MonkeeSpanker wrote: Australia has about 23 million I think. That is a good point you make, but surely the problem of illegals getting free treatment can be solved quite easily. You show a passport or green card when you go for treatment. I realise alot of Yanks don't have passports, so how about a medicare card? I got one when I legally emigrated to Australia, and I show that whenever I go to the Doctor. |

Great, now take the knowledge and power and shove it straight up your ass. Her death, while tragic, does NOT turn this fucking forum into OT. There's at
least 3 threads there talking about this, take it there.
