Does anyone know long a show has to be on your TV/TIVO before they count it as being watched? Last night we got up off the couch after 30 rock and from the
other room we heard the jay leno theme come on. there was a mad dash to the TV to change it before we got on record as a household watching it.

Conan did a 2.6 last night in the 18-49 rating. Leno did a 1.4 rating.
Evidently, NBC thinks Jay is the king of the flyover states. It's also amusing that the out of touch nbc execs think that people don't care about the political aspects when it's kind of obvious that's why Conan's ratings are zooming and Jay's aren't.

I think for TIVO/DVRs are only counted once they are watched; I've heard reported DVR ratings talk about how many times that show has been watched within
the week, not by how many recorded it. Either way, that is pretty funny lol.

Oprah Winfrey says she is set to interview Jay Leno.
Winfrey said on her talk show Friday that she was going to Los Angeles for a "one-on-one" interview with Leno to air on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" on Thursday. The interview comes as Conan O'Brien exits "The Tonight Show," allowing Leno to return to the late-night program he hosted for 17 years. O'Brien's final show will be Friday. Leno will return to "Tonight" on March 1. Per ABC News |

Cindi, I <3 you so much.
I think the NBC suits & Leno are arranging that Oprah interview for damage control. Of course they won't let Conan in on it. But I thought I read that Conan was restricted from night time talk shows only. Can't he do daytime TV? Well, at least it's only till September. |

She invited Conan, the question is will NBC let him go on.

See there? Oprah is a little trouble maker. She knows like everyone else in the world that Conan's contract says he can't. So now she can go "Well I TRIED to get both sides". And NBC still looks like the bad guys, but Leno gets to start his redemption on one of his buddy's show.
It is in NBC's best interests to not let Conan go. If Conan goes, Leno still looks bad and NBC still looks bad. If Conan is told no, Leno can have his pity party and NBC will look bad, but at least no one will be saying so many bad things about NBC or questioning the truthfulness of the story Leno tells. Plus it would be difficult for Conan to have an honest conversation about it anyway, what with the whole 'not allowed to say bad things' clause. Oprah's invitation is nothing more than a veiled attempt to try to look like she isn't playing favourites so the interview looks more genuine rather than a pr ploy.

If he's only banned from interviews - but can play characters on shows....
Does that mean Letterman can kinda resurrect the "the guy who lives under the stairs" and change it to "the bitter, ex-NBC employee who lives under the stairs?" ....or was that bit part of the intellectual property NBC stol...er...retained...when Letterman left?

Oprah??? WTF!
As if she's gonna ask any hard hitting questions. So, she's gonna let Jay tell his stories, make him look good and convince her housewife viewers to watch his show? Ugh. (Btw, why does the Sucks board suddenly ask you to apply for membership?) |

I doubt Oprah gives a shit about NBC or their reputation. She's asking them because they will be good for ratings. Oprah has more "fuck you" money than just about anyone. She doesn't need to suck up to network brass.

Oprah and Leno are buddies apparently, so this is also a favour for her wounded friend.
