So each year the judges "predict" which gender will win, who the top contenders will be, etc. But have they always been right?
Randy's saying a girl will win this year cause of better talent and last year Simon claimed a guy would win with Adam and Danny as top two. and Simon
basically crowned Carrie the winner the moment she stepped came in for her audition.
What have they said in other years?

If the producers have their way, it'll be a girl. If the frau's have their way it'll be an attractive guy. If the producer's stack the deck and put only fugly dude's through, then for sure it'll be a woman. |

I think Adam was more Frauen-bait than Kris. In the Frauen fantasies, Adam would be "cured" by their devotion while Kris was already married and therefore off limits. A the fraus were clearly on Archie's side as well as Clay's side. Actually, the fraus have a pretty poor track record in picking Idol winners.

In season 4 EVERYBODY was predicting a white guy would win. During the semis people thought it would be Mario or Bo. In the Sucks prediction board, almost everybody thought it would be one of them. When Mario dropped out the battle became Bo Vs. Constantine. In the Sucks poll Carrie got plenty of votes for second place but none for first. So yeah, we can be totally wrong.
The judge's prejudices to get a certain race and/or gender to the top are usually extremely obvious. After season 6 and Jordin's so-so CD sales (which took quite awhile; the album looked like a total flop at first, then picked up steam again after her superbowl appearance, successful touring and radio airplay) the last thing they wanted in season 7 was another black female to win. In any other season they would have been creaming over Syesha's looks, hot outfits, singing ability and stage presence. But instead they dissed her at every turn. This year 2/3 of the successful auditions they are showing are for white females. And yes, that does mean that guys and black singers in general will continue to get more or less ignored throughout the season. In particular, I expect that anybody who reminds them of Kris will get instantly eliminated in Hollywood.

It's a nice idea, but it won't happen. In recent seasons whenever they've had a really good black guy he mysteriously fails to get picked for the semis. I liked Chakezie a lot, but everybody knew he wouldn't get close to the top 4. I don't know why any black guys (or overweight white women) still even bother to audition. "One random who sneaks in but has no chance in hell" is a good description of both Taylor and Kris (possibly Jordin & Carrie as well).
I'd like to apologize for calling Mario Vazquez white. Oops. At least I didn't really insult him by calling him streight.

Because Syesha was extra special at hitting notes only dogs could hear. The only reason she fit into the top 3 is that there was past precedent of screechy, undeserving females to make the top 3 (see Nikki, Jasmine, and Vonzell). Carly was no wonder either (especially as the competition went on), but I felt she was light years ahead of Syesha.

I remember all the reports of Simon fawning over a blond country singer that season. I think that going into the semis/top 12, people saw Mario as her biggest contender in terms of pimping.
