There are sets, games and points.
One set is 6 games (7 in case of a tie). You have to win by two games. One game is 4 points, sort of. The scoring goes 0, 15, 30, 40, game. So you'll see scores like 30-15, 40-30, etc. If a score gets to 40-40, it's called deuce. You have to win a game by two points, so at deuce, it goes advantage to the player who won the point. If the other player wins, it's back to deuce. Once one wins two points at deuce, they win the game. Women play best 2 of 3 sets. Men play best 3 of 5. Any questions? |

Number of games she's won. The first 6-4 is the score of the first set, which Azarenka won. The 5-4 is the score of the second set, which is in progress.

- To win a tennis match, you have to win 2 out of 3 sets or in slams 3 out of 5 sets. - To win a set you have to win 6 games within the set. If it gets close like 5-5, you have to win by 2 games. If it gets to 6-6, you go to a tiebreak. But in slams(except US Open) in the final set, there is no tiebreak. - To win games you have to win 4 points(15, 30, 40, game). If it gtes to 40-40, you have to win by 2 points. - Also to win a tiebreak, you have to win 7 points. If it gets to 6-6, you have to win by 2 points.
