Did I actually read in this week's SI that there was a 40 minute delay in an early round match because a ball boy wet himself (and I guess thus the court) and the fan they were using to dry the court ran out of gas?

Well Serena ain't messing around today, she broke in the first game.

Serena won the first set 7-6 (7-4). Had a set point at 5-3 but blew it, but thankfully it didn't matter.

Na Li's actually doing a great job with Serena. She's kinda holding her own, even though she's gonna lose.

7-6 (7-4), 7-6 (7-1). Good showing from Na Li, but Serena managed to beat her on her fifth match point.
Go Jie Zheng! Please dispose of Manin so I can see these commentator's heads explode from seeing her lose. |

I agree Timmy! Na did great but she just makes way too many errors, and she's too streaky.
Love to see Justine go but in terms of who is better for Serena, they both have similar games so idc. I'd obviously love to see Justine go down just how Bartoli pwned her. |

^Totally. If Na Li can fix those errors then she can be a very strong contender to make it to another Grand Slam final. I hope we see more of her!
And yeah, I'm sure Heneh will win, but I always root for the unknown that kicks ass and comes out of nowhere. <3 Rooted for Zheng when she randomly made it to the semis in Wimbledon and hoping she can make the finals this time around! |

Even though I think Justine will be a tougher opponent, I'd honestly love to see a Serena vs. Justine smackdown, just because they've never actually met in the final of a slam before. Hopefully Serena can recover from this match and go out there ready to brawl. However, the commentators said that the final would be a "primetime match", so does that mean I have to stay up until 3:30 in order to watch it? Blech it'll be worth it I guess.
Oh and btw, did you guys know that two Chinese women made the semifinals for the FIRST TIME IN SLAM HISTORY? Just figured I'd let you know... |

And did you know that in China, the last name is first and the first name is last? I had no idea!

Yeah I knew that...
Did you know that in Russia and most eastern European countries all females end their names in a a well the guys stop at v. Dementieva, Sharapova, Safarova, Petrova, Hantuchova, Benesova, Kvitova, Zvonareva, Strycova, etc. It used to be funny when ESPN used to refer to Maria Sharapova's father as Yuri Sharapova. They were basically calling him a female. lol. When its just Sharapov. |

I actually think the Henin/Serena rivarly is one that never developed like it should have. They really never met when both were at their peak. Kind of disappointing for the sport but whatever.

Omg guys, did you guys see that *gasp* ONE-HANDED BACKHAND?!?!?!? Surely she must have just added that to her repertoire because I haven't heard the commentators ever mention it before.
