My high school guidance counselor was a professional stitch. No one trust her.

High school ones were okay. Never really talked to them except to drop a class. University ones are useless. This one chick supplied me and my friend very wrong information that actually if not caught, would have cost us another few thousand dollars because we would have had to go for another semester due to this information she gave us.

My high school guidance counselor only had time for the pregnant chicks and the kids having too much sex or drugs.
So I never saw her. |

I trust University counselors a lot more than high school.

My parents were my guidance counselors I guess. They told me to go to college and to clean my room. And to be home by 11:30 on weekends.

I never saw ours. Not once. I didn't know what he was for.
I also completely floundered. I had no idea about scholarships or applying for schools or any of that shit. I just graduated and went to a community college because I thought I had to cough up all the tuition money up front and I didn't have any. I guess it is not a requirement for students to talk to them even once? Seems odd. |

I hated PTAs during conferences in my school. My behavior in school was too terrible and a bit bad influence.

Mine was this idiot that had no clue as to what he was doing, he was also so gay and everyone knew it but him. Everybody hated him.

mine was like tits on a bull.
saw him once, and only cause it was a requirement that all seniors have a 'meeting' about post secondary. He gave me an application to one university and i went on my merry way. |

Mine was great. I went to see her my sophomore year because I was already concerned about what college I was going to go to. She advised me to attend some great summer programs. I also won a nice award that included a scholarship thanks to her recommending me for it. She was super helpful in turning in applications for me by the time senior year came around. She became a principal after I left, leaving the students after me stuck with inferior counselors.

It is with genuine surprise that I discover that anyone ever actually entered that office.

Absolutely useless. She was more concerned with her children at home and helping out the "troubled" gang members in my school. Basically because I was white and didn't come from a broken home and paid attention in classes, I was nothing more than just another white kid to her that she had to "deal" with.
She also lied to me for my senior year, claiming I had to take classes all day and couldn't have the 2nd half of the day off. So I had to take a bunch of music and art classes that I didn't care about because that was basically all they had left for me to take. All of my required classes, English/PE/Economics/US Government were in the morning and I had all electives/study halls in the afternoon. After the first day when all my friends left at lunchtime for the day, I found out the bitch lied to me. And the school refused to let me drop my electives and study halls to have a half day, even though I didn't need the electives. But the second half of the year I called the bitch out on it and was able to have a half day for that half of the year. She was also useless with college searches. I gave her what I was looking for in a school and she turned around and gave me the opposite. I asked for all smaller schools and she handed me tons of huge schools that I would never want to go near. Thank god for the college fairs where they split up smaller and bigger schools so I could find what I wanted. |

Mine was OK.
I decided the college I wanted to go to and he got out the papers and said "do this, and, and this, and this, and I'll send in your transcript and scores and evaluations and you should have no problem getting in." I never regretted woodworking school. |

We had 3 counselors for 250 students.
I could have bothered them every day if I had had anything left in me. |

I just had a meeting with my daughter's HS counselor about scholarship programs. If she gets us college money, she's a fabulous and wonderful human being and I will send her a christmas card.

My high school guidance counselors staked out on the gym roof with binoculars trying to catch kids smoking pot in the senior parking lot. I thought they were evil people, I had no idea they were supposed to be used for 'good'.

I went to mine once to double-check about a course prerequisite. Useless.
The guidance secretary actually did better work than the damn counsellors, no one seems to know what they do all day besides restocking pamphlets. |
