The murders committed by Danny Rolling at the University of Florida - These happened 2 weeks or so into my freshman year at college. I went to Alabama, but a bunch of my friends from high school went to UF and ended up withdrawing and coming home.

The prison where I work is going to be featured in a "Lockup" kind of documentary. They are going to be there for 30 days taping. They are focusing on the program where the women are able to keep their babies with them.
I wonder if Tackett will be on there? She was on a local documentary about how she found God and changed. |

Probably already said but West Memphis Three for the "who the hell really did it" angle and Jeffrey McDonald for the "pick his brain on why he did it" angle considering his background and life. That Eric Smith kid (now an adult) is another one that I just want to know why a young kid could do something so horrific.

When Broderick's husband of 16 years dumped her for his young legal assistant, she seethed with a white-hot fury. She was one angry Betty, as a California writer, a long-time Broderick watcher, recently observed. She still is, the California parole board concluded Thursday after hearing Broderick's rambling statement in which she continued to blame her actions on her husband's extramarital affair and their bitter divorce. "I allowed the voices in my head to completely take over," Broderick told the parole board. "I took the lives of two wonderful people who were loved by many." Yet when pressed for details on her actions, Broderick repeated what she had said during her trials: "Linda came at me and the gun went off." "She was totally not remorseful, didn't even try," said Richard Sachs, a San Diego prosecutor who handles so-called "lifer hearings." Broderick won't be eligible for another parole hearing for 15 years -- the maximum time the law allows. |

what about the guy in VA that shot and killed 8 family members/friends (3 teens included) last week? pretty horrific. Oh he also shot a police copter that was searching for him.

I am reading about Gary Evans this week. Every Move You Make. So far so good. Upstate NY, late 1980s. Antiques thief who killed his accomplices/friends and his relationship with a local detective over a span of years.
Just finished the I-5 Killer by Ann Rule. Was a disappointing read as it was very much surface material and no real depth. |

Lobster Boy - Grady Stiles
 Grady was a successful carnie but an abusive drunk who terrorized his family. He killed his daughter's fiance the night before her wedding. Convicted, but because of his condition they didn't give him prison time. 15 years probation. Years later his wife and her son hired another sideshow performer to kill him. His wife was convicted of conspiracy to commit murder and sentenced to 12 years. The son got life and the actual trigger man got 27 years. |

Massive upper body strength, built up by using his so called arms for everything since he was born. Much like the wheelchair dude from Family Guy I guess. His claws would hit like hammers.
Although he used a wheelchair, he was pretty mobile without it. Apparently he beat the shit out of quite a few people. He could be across a room in a flash, take you down by tripping up your legs, hold you down with one "arm" and pummel the living shit out of you with the other. |

The first true crime book I read was "Redrum The Innocent" about the murder of Christine Jessop. I think I read awhile back that Morin was proven not guilty after the fact by new DNA evidence, but I can't be entirely too sure. Until Paul Bernardo came along, this was one of the most high profile murder investigations in Canadian history.
