Since it's math day in the Adam thread... These three rockin' ladies x 433.333333 = Adam's audience for Fantasy Springs. |

The man is closing in on making a million dollars this year. Who cares who buys his shit, as long as they are buying it he gets to do what he wants to do for a living.
Im sure if given the option between a pissant life of no major kayash 99% of people live, and his life... (where God help him some fans may be older than he is.... oh my god the sky if fucking falling)..... a sane, emphasis on sane person would pick the life where they get to do what they have dreamed of and are getting rich while doing it. Gee, lets see.... closing in on a million in one year, or sitting behind a desk working for some douche making 50k tops. Choices, choices.... God he is such a HUGE failure!!

I think the key words here are "one million dollars" in one year, although I'm not sure how Hunter knows that figure.
also, picking that "life" doesn't mean "being" that person. Just the idea of living your dreams and getting paid to do what you love is the crux of Hunter's statement, if I read it correctly. |

Most of the people who know me know I watch Idol and I always get so ashamed when people bring up people like Adam or Gokey, knowing I watched them for a full season... |

I think a fan is a fan and at the end of the day the artist doesn't really give a shit what they look like. IRLY, read your response again... I see what you're saying now.... aimed at Hunter cuz he hates Gokey like you hate Adam.... clever. |

How much do you think a video costs? How much do you think advertising costs? Distribution to stores, to radio? Placement? Management? Travel? You think he's in the black???? Keep on spinning it crazy bitches..he's in hock up to his eyeballs to RCA. |

I said I wasn't sure where Hunter got that figure from so no I don't think he's made one million dollars yet. videos generally cost between 100-200K. they sell for $1.99 on itunes. Both videos have reached #1 on itunes (FYE has been in the top 40 since it's release) and given his single sales, i think it's probably a safe bet that he's sold AT LEAST 50K copies of his videos by now. He's said that he's comfortable financially but not rich. |

We don't care if he's rich, poor, making $10 or a trillion dollars. We DO NOT LIKE HIM. Is it really that tough to comprehend?

Seaguy I get it. But he really isn't a failure. Just saying.
By that reasoning you should wish to be Danny Gokey because he is doing what he wants and he has surely made more money than you this past year. Highly doubt it. The dumb fuck sold less than 8k of that shitty single the first week. As far as I see it, he owes his label money at this point. As far as Lamber goes, I think the top two get like 200g's to tour for starters, at least, right? 10% or so of their sales, album, video, singles. And he makes appearance and gets paid for them. One idiot paid him like, 45k to come to his wifes freaking birthday party and sing. Yep, closing in on 1million, easy. Not to bad for less than a years time. So, alas.... you may think he is a fugger and hideous and bash his fans, but those fans are paving the way to riches for the man. Im sure if it was any of us, we'd give the money back if we found out the person who bought our shit was fat or ugly :lol |

Every fucking year we have to teach these newbies how it works. By the time we have them educated there's a new crop and it starts all over again. It gets so bloody tedious but I'm nice so I'll take the time to explain.
If you work your 9 to 5 and get paid like 50K a year, your 20% goes to Uncle Sam and the rest is yours. If Adam earns a 50K fee for a gig, he loses 30 to 50% to 19 management right off the top. He pays a further 20% of the whole 50K to Uncle Sam. Subtract the cost of airfare for himself, the band and assistant/bodyguard, (if any). Do the same for hotel, meals and transportation for all members. Subtract the wages of the band members and the assistant/bodyguard (if any). Subtract any costumes or clothing, hair stylist etc he has to buy for the gig. If he is left with a couple of thousand he is lucky. Multiply these costs for every gig he did the last 6 months, including things like the Jingle Balls that he does for free. Whether its a Jingle Ball hosting thing or Oprah/Letterman/Good Morning America etc., those promotional appearances are paid for by the record label as a loan and are subtracted from his CD and single/video sales. The cost of a decent video is 500K. Half will go on Adam's tab. Multiply by the number of videos. The cost of pushing a single to top 10 on radio is around 500k per song per format. Add that to Adam's tab. The cost of recording studio time, producers, songs, studio musicians, photo shoots, cover art, packaging and pressing the CDs, plus the shipping and distribution costs are all charged to Adam's tab. This is why we say he's so deep in the hole that if he doesn't go multi-platinum, he'll probably be dropped. At the rate he's selling he has no hope of paying his bill, never mind pocketing a dime. The label gets their debt paid first. It comes off the sales before Adam will ever see a dime. Don't forget that not only does the label get paid first but Adam also must pay a huge percentage of everything he earns to the management. If he earns any royalties or appearance fees or concert fees, management gets like half before Adam gets a check. Out of what is left, Adam gets to pay the hotel, travel and wages to his band. There was an article a few months ago about Lyle Lovett. He sold over 20 million CDs and never made a cent. There was a similar article about Rhihanna being broke and most recently Lady Gaga is losing money on her tour in spite of it being sold out. There's a good reason why the music business has a reputation for being a dirty business. Everyone makes money except the artist. So, the bottom line is that Adam probably hasn't made any money yet and is deep in debt. |

seaguy wrote: nope, not at all. I don't think I'm discussing your like or dislike of him nor am I attempting to change your mind. I'm participating in posting. That is still allowed, regardless of which side of the fence you come down on I assume. If Adam earns a 50K fee for a gig, he loses 30 to 50% to 19 management right off the top. OMG do you have a copy of Adam's contract?? can you post it? we want to see it. thanks in advance For what it's worth, many gigs pay the artists expenses, including but not limited to accommodations, travel, food, etc., including for the band. Lady gaga could be losing money on tour, despite being sold out, because of her elaborate staging, multiple costume changes etc. the Artist DOES in fact pay for touring themselves. As for Lyle Lovett, he said he didn't make money off his CDs he didn't say he didn't make money. Rhianna broke? |
