The producers LOVE the water loading because it's instant drama when, at times, there is none. (including Bob and Jillian's.) They will NEVER get rid the immunities, because that's what drives the water loading.

Yeah, waterloading doesn't last for days. It's not like burger-binging!

Isn't waterloading dangerous? I remember a few years back a lady died at a radio station during a contest.
Everybody kept drinking water and not going to the bathroom to see who could last the longest. She died from water or fluid intoxication or something. Poor lady was trying to win a video game console for her kids

They drink several cups of water...not anything crazy, as far as I know. They drink relatively soon before they weigh in, then they go to the bathroom. The weigh-in they show us is staged. Someone previously posted the ratio of water drank to pounds but I don't remember it. |

I remember Ali (season 5 winner) saying it's about a bottle of water for every pound.

Neil on season 4 drank 2 gallons of water before the weigh in and gained 17 pounds
Thats still my favorite episode of Biggest Loser ever...really fun challenge to see who reorganized the teams, Amy deciding to ditch Kim and train with Jillian, Kim having a breakdown, Neil gaining 17 pounds at the weigh in and all the fall out from his water loading. Only sucky part was Jez went home. |

I loved though how it all came back to him by being booted at F5, and then Isabeau of all people having the deciding vote, and then her bitchy speech too <3.

The thing about water loading (especially for women) is that it isn't certain that weight will come back off when you want it to. But it is what it is.
I don't believe we are going to see much more of that from the red team. Oh, they will game it but I think they know the others are watching and they are risking a Grey team lecture (LOL) about not "stepping up." |

Hi rower! Yes I know about Jeff and Jordan. It should he fun to watch!Oh Em Gee! Not to change topic, but that is way cool! I don't have issue w/waterloading because it doesn't affect the overall outcome of weight loss. I think most of those people are fighting every day to stay another week on campus to get the help, so I would do whatever I could to make sure I didn't go home. |

My thought:
Jillian and Bob need to be trainers and not "contestants" who comment on the game play. Whether you agree with any contestant's strategy or disagree, why must all people ANSWER to Bob and Jillian for their game play? It's complete BS that Jillian and Bob just want the contestants to be "honest" about their game play. WHY SHOULD THEY BE when the others will then target them for playing the game and vote them out at the first chance? Even if the contestants did reveal to Bob and Jillian that they are playing the game, Bob and Jillian would have the biggest temper tantrum, alert ALL the contestants of their feelings, and completely skew the game. |

It is all make-believe controversy, and they sucker the other contestants into their "outrage" by pumping them up for it.
Each of them, had they been clever/smart/lucky/strong enough to win the damn immunity would have done the exact same thing. Why? Because staying on the ranch longer and winning the money are desirable outcomes, and you don't fucking lose a ton of weight a week before the NEXT week which will probably count. It is pointless and puts you in jeopardy next week. They still lose the weight, water is pee'd out after the weigh in. Jill and Bob? Acting or "moral" superiority and dedication? Probably both. They have a stake in keeping this show on the air too, which is also money and pleasing their producers who know/think that controversy sells. In other words, it's all bullshit. I am almost convinced that the producers tell the people who water-load to deny/deny/deny (let's not discourage all those home viewers who are inspired by your being here! etc.) A further set-up for accusations of "LIAR! GAME PLAYER!" They don't want game play? Give other rewards, not immunity. OR do surprise weigh ins. Simple. They WANT them to water load, for controversy, and for "dramatic!" weight loss numbers the week after. Hating a contestant for doing what is obvious and smart is nuts to me. Hating them for "lying?" Also crap, since I doubt they are allowed, let alone encouraged, to admit it. |

Season 4 (the one with all three trainers and Neil's Waterloadgate) was a really awesome season. It was the first one I watched, and it was such a disappointment when it was followed by the awful season with the "Pride!" boys club and a winner who wasn't even on the show for half of the season.
Season 5 is probably the only one I'd put below last season, which was awful but at least had Trazy for the first half. |

1000Proof wrote:I think Bob and Jillian are more motivated by ego than money when a contestant either gains or does not lose much weight. IE, their reputation as a trainer who helps grossly obese people lose weight is on the line. They fear viewers will draw this conclusion: Do what Bob and Jillian tell you to do and you will {GAIN/ONLY LOSE A SMALL AMOUNT OF} weight. For this reason, they want it to be clear to viewers that this was game play, not a result of the work outs they orchestrated. As further evidence, I have heard/seen/read both of them say this statement multiple times: "I have taken off 100 pounds in 7 weeks with a client." That's a source of immense professional pride for them. |

Why don't we get confessionals from the redneck team about the waterlading?
