I thought the intro was kind of weird. It was cool I guess but the old school intros were 100x better.

I miss the ~feel~ of the old intros, they just seem so rushed to me now without the stills shots. With that said, I really liked a lot of the individual intros! My favourite is probably Rob's or Rupert's. Courtney's and James' were pretty cool too.

~*Intro Rankings*~ 20. Tom Westman  -_- So blah. I like Tom and this does him a disservice as it is the opposite of epic. His first shot is ok, although it is the weakest of the 'helicopter' shots in my opinion, but the second shot of him working on the shelter or w/e? So boring. In the midst of all the action shots is it nice to see a low-key intro but not for TOM, plus this one is emotionless. And that hat looks ridiculous. He deserved better and SO DID WE. |

19. Tyson Apostol  A part of me wants to like this because I think he's the only one in a shot carrying something and I think it's a cool visual but it's also so BLAH comparatively. That coupled with my blah feelings towards him preshow and his blah edit now is just too much blah for me to ignore. His face is so static in both clips, too. |

I do really like the helicopter shot of Tom -- all the shots with the helicopters are pretty cool IMO -- but yeah, ITA on everything else.

18. Randy Bailey
 I actually really like the first clip with him smiling. I think it sums up his Grinch-esque personality pretty nicely. In the second shot his shirtlessness is fully visible tho so... I can't deny that this might be higher if I liked Randy more and had more interest in his personality but I don't and this just doesn't JUMP OUT at me. |

Colby looking like the Greased Up Deaf Guy is one of the worst opening shots ever for its sheer ickiness. Tyson's is way more boring than Randy's since he's not even wearing any colourful clothes.
And yes, that hat = It's obviously an homage to Joel "Truck" Anderson's amazing headgear, DON'T HATE. Truck <3 |

17. James Clement  I swear I'm not intentionally Pagonging the men. They used a LOT of these 'sliding through grease' shots. For one, I'm not a fan of using a lot of footage from the same challenge in the intro and two, this one uses TWO shots from that same challenge footage. I do actually like the first clip with James's hot oiled up bod *fans self* but the second one is too much, and the face he's making is very unflattering. I guess the grease spray is a cool visual but taking into account the other intros, this one just doesn't work for me. |

16. Jerri Manthey  A lot of people really like this one and I want so bad to be one of them but...no. It's not flattering for Jerri *at all* which is fine although her last intro was amazing so she had a lot to live up to. My main problem with this is the red ball she's reaching for in the second clip. I HATE when challenge props make it into the intro, because I feel like the intro should be as natural and "tribal" as possible to fit in with the eroding theme of the show, and having that little red ball in makes it feel very, very gameshow. That, plus her scary face, plus yet another *sliding* intro, made this one this low. I do like that it has a lot of tension and emotion in it though. |

15. Cirie Fields  I just bitched about challenge materials in the intros but I actually like the second clip in Cirie's a lot. Her wading through the strings just feels a little bit majestic? idk. This intro features the patented Cirie-giggle but I feel like Micro did it better. Overall this one is ok but just not very dynamic, and it doesn't feel as CIRIE as I wanted it to. It doesn't encapsulate her. Better than EI tho. |

14. Jessica 'Sugar' Kiper  I like the helicopter shot and I approve of the decision to do a close-up since so many of the other intros featured a lot of action, especially running and sliding. So I appreciate this one because it's unique and I like that it zeroes in on what Sugar brings to Survivor, which has nothing to do with challenges. Unfortunately the second shot is kind of blah and she's not even looking at the camera. I wish they had used the image of the single tear streaming down her face after losing the first challenge. It might have been spoiler-y but it would have packed a punch visually and embodied Sugar's persona. I think if they had made that change this intro could potentially be in the top 5 =o |

The one thing about Sugar's intro you forgot to mention is that it makes her look like both a busted old hag and a chubby little boy at the same time...that has to count for something.

13. Courtney Yates  I'm so conflicted on this one  I HATE the first clip but LOVE the second one, so I'm putting it somewhere around the middle. I think the second clip really represents Courtney well and it's so cheeky and fun and almost fourth-wall-breaking. The other clip is hideous and I struggle to think of any reason they'd even use it. I think a shot of her laying in the shelter would be better. It is unique tho overall. |
