I'm dismayed (though I can't say surprised) that the Blind Side was nominated. Purely lazy film-making and now a purely lazy nomination. What's most shocking is not that someone would include it in their Top 10, but that some people out there named it in their Top 2 or 3 films of the year, which is the only way to secure a nomination.

The inclusion of The Blind Side reminds me of that scene in Idiocracy where in the future the highest grossing film was a movie called "Ass" and it was a 2 hour close up of a guy's butt. It won 9 Oscars that year

And I'm really surprised that The Hurt Locker tied with Avatar for most nominations. If anything, that gives it a better chance of soundly beating Avatar for Best Pic. |

Eh, I figured as a popular, high-grossing and publically adored movie it had a shot, but The Blind Side took that spot. District 9 was an awesome surprise, so we've got two sci-fi BP nominees this year!
Thanks Wildcat! I think Sam can look a bit "rough" in some pictures, but he looks really good in this one. Looking forward to him being in 'Clash of the Titans'. I thought Cinema Italiano was going to be a sure thing for Best Original Song nomination, and would have made a good Oscar night spectacle, but getting to see Cotillard perform has me much more excited than Kate Hudson writhing around on stage would have. |

I was really happy to see Maggie Gyllenhaal nominated. I thought she gave a terrific performance in Crazy Heart. And I think it further cements Jeff Bridges' win. And Ryan Bingham gets to perform at the Oscars! :)

Im surprised a lot of people here left it out. Its part of the reason the nominees even went to 10, because people (both fans and people in the industry) were bitching Pixar was getting a raw deal. And of course love that the "Blinde Side" got nominated. Sandra is really locking up the Oscar! |
