Up really doesn't deserve to be the second animated movie nominated for BP. It's not even a pleasant surprise, since everyone knew it was going to happen after Wall-E's "snub" last year (that film lost so much of its charm when the humans got involved). Pixar is so overrated it's ridiculous. At least the Blind Side got nominated, showing that this whole 10 nomination thing isn't flawless.
But District 9? Now THAT was a pleasant surprise. |

So happy "The Hurt Locker" actually tied Avatar in total noms. Is there any argument someone can come up with now about how Avatar can still win?
The nomination for "The Blind Side" is honestly an embarrassment to the Academy, and the reason 10 nominees can't really work. Actress is disappointing and quite frankly boring. I'm shocked yet very pleased for Maggie Gyllenhaal, though I haven't seen Crazy Heart, it's obvious the girl is overdue. And that overrated skank Julianne Moore got snubbed! I do have to say a big FUCK YOU to Harvey Weinstein for ruining Marion's chances, but at least she gets to perform.
(500) Days of Summer really deserved a screenplay nod, but thank god the film that bumped it out was not The Hangover. It's also depressing "Ponyo" was snubbed, but that was to be expected. I agree with whoever said it's sad "Up" is the second animated movie to be nominated for Best Picture. Studio Ghibli completely rapes Pixar. |
