Whatever Richard is, I think he probably showed up on the Black Rock, as has been speculated for quite a while. He may have literally been "in chains" as a criminal being transported (a la Kate) or as an insubordinate crew member thrown in the brig. A Richard flashback episode would really help answer some questions.

I can't believe I just read this entire thread. I didn't see the stupid question I have to ask. Why the hell didn't Hurley suggest taking Juliet to the temple? I'm extremely irate about this.

She wasn't on the list, so it didn't matter. They saved Sayid because the letter said he had to survive.

Stuff that comes from Darlton are not considered spoilers here, although in this case the nugget they drop is definitely spoiler-lite.

Yeah, a couple of things seemed a little iffy, when they are saying what is significant and what isn't, including a question I asked earlier in the thread. So, hard core, "don't wanna know" might be bugged.

You mean the thing about the alternate reality being purgatory?

I never noticed this before but the guy who plays Matt Parkman on Heroes was the Pilot on Lost episode 1(I picked up his voice over the intercom tonight)

At the end of last season, DH was convinced that MIB was good & Jacob was evil -- MIB seemed annoyed that Jacob kept bringing people to the island as though Jacob was using them as pawns in a game. Now he's confused again.
And Desmond on the plane: I'm not catching on. No Eloise, but how would this affect Penny's existence? I obviously need to rewatch, but Desmond met Penny @ the monastary (and unknowingly Eloise was friends or something with the head monk). Did Desmond meet Eloise before the jewelry shop? Help me remember!!! However the bomb changed/unchanged things, Jacob still would have gone back & touched everyone (did we get a flash last season of him meeting Hurley before 815?). Do we believe/think the bomb would have knocked off Jacob/MIB as well? Was that Ben's dad @ the Temple? Did he become reformed after Sayid shot little Ben? Did he defect from Dharmaville w/ Ben? My head hurts. |

pushingjate wrote:No, the last 5 years have happened (so far). There are two timelines happening simultaneously, one in 2004 and one in 2007.Nope. I think it's pretty obvious that the M.I.B. will fail, and the 2007/08 timeline will fade away/be erased. Whatever happens in the the new 2004 LAX timeline will be the new/real events. Jack succeeded. All that's left is to kick the M.I.B. ass.So hostile, according to your theory, the events that weve seen in the past 5 years didnt happen? Which means everyone we saw die isnt dead? In the 2004 timeline the characters didn't crash on the island. Jack's dad's coffin didn't make the plan, Shannon stayed in Australia and didn't hook up with Boone, Locke met Jack and will see him for spinal consult, Rose has cancer still, Kate escaped the Marshall and hopped in the cab with Claire, etc... Obviously as the season goes on we will see the characters evolve a bit more in the new real world. In 2007 the events that are happening really do exist. Locke is dead, Shannon is dead, Boone is dead, Man in Black revealed himself as smokey to Ben, Sayid was dead and came back, etc... The M.I.B. also revealed he wants to get off the island. Clearly this man is feared and if he does get off the island, bad things will happen. Obviously the losties will have to stop this and of course they're going to succeed. Once they do, what's next? I think the 2007 timeline will become irrelevant. There is no reason for it to exist anymore. In essence, the orginal 2004-1977-2007 time line will be undone and erased. Maybe Jacob comes around and says thanks for the help, you can go home now. idk. but the main point is that 2007 will cease to exist by the end of the finale. Then the 5 years prior will be erased. The losties will never have been on the island whatsoever. The new 2004 timeline is the one that will ultimately matter. make sense or a I still not explaining it very well? it's possible that darlton does the fringe two world thing, but with so little time left, I don't know how that would even happen. |

I'm not sure what to think about the alternate universe stuff. Clearly the island is sunk in 2004 but alive and well in 2007/8. Are there parallel universes (which we haven't seen before in this show) or does the 2004 group somehow end up going back to 1977 to undo the damage?
Is Jacob the good and Nemesis the evil? In their first encounter on the beach I would have pegged them the opposite. But Nemesis as Locke and the smoke monster is certainly evil. Jacob sent Sayid to the temple so I'm pretty sure Jacob has taken over Sayid's body. It's ironic since Sayid made a living as a torturer and hired gun so he is not without sin. And I was kind of surprised how quickly Sawyer buried Juliet. Would she even be cold yet? On that island I'd wait a while, jes sayin. |
