Foreign big brother watchers. Worth getting other seasons? |
Lead | |
|
I've been watching Celebrity Big Brother 2010 UK and enjoying it. I was thinking about getting some past seasons of Big Brother UK, or Celebrity UK, or
other countries... I know nothing about them at all. Was wondering if someone who has enjoyed them could suggest which ones are the most fun. For instance,
how's last year's Celebrity Big Brother UK in terms of quality? please don't spoil anything, just curious if there are some must sees out there as
suggested by Big Brother USA fans :)
thanks for any help! |

UK Big Brother 8 (with Charley-one of the most awesome BB personalities ever)
UK Celeb 5 (Jade v. Shilpa was controversial) Australia 8 (most people would tell you to stay away from the season, but Brigitte was another awesome BB personality) |

Don't watch BBUK8. Charley was a great hm but the rest of them were god awful.
I highly recomend BBUK5/6/7. and I do like BBUK9 and 10 even though most people didn't. Haven't seen the rest though apparently BBUK4 is one of the worst seasons ever |

I agree DO NOT watch BBUK8. Watch BBUK7. Trust me it was very good. Also Celebrity Big Brother 5 was good. Those 2 should keep you entertained.

Avoid BB8 UK. Seriously, it is awful. I'm from the UK and have watched from the start, each season in chronological order, and I can tell you right now
that the only season I ever gave up on was BB8. Some of the most boring, annoying, uninteresting housemates ever put on the show. The most ridiculous twists
that all flopped. Unimaginative tasks. And after about half way through every single highlight show just revloves around food arguments. I gave up two or three
weeks before the end because it was that bad. Even worse than BB4.
That's the bad out of the way. Now here are the series you should watch: BB5 - Fantastic series. Often held in a very high regard by fans and critics alike. This was the year that Big Brother went 'Evil', and the BB himself started developing a personality. The cast is perfect, I honestly believe that every housemate in this series played a role and added something to the show. Even the quieter housemates were significant. It has a tense rivalry between two factions in the house, amazing twists, really fun tasks and just all round entertainment. BB3 - This is the other series that is usually put alongside BB5 as the example of Big Brother's greatest. Like with BB5, it has an almost perfect cast of housemates, each personality adding to the dynamics. The tasks are well thought out and there is a big twist that impacts on the series in a very entertaining way. CBB4 - Probably the best Celebrity Big Brother. As an American viewer you may not recognise many of the names, but once you get in to it that doesn't matter. Such big personalities and egos clash in the series. And they have a very inventive twist with the "non-celeb" housemate. Hilarious tasks and a couple of nice twists. BB7 (first half) - I have a back and forth thing with this series. I think the first half is near perfect Big Brother. Right from the opening night it gets going, a fantastic group of housemates that seem to click in to place almost immediately. There is the right mix of fun and arguments. Then on the flip side, the second half of the series is some of the worst stuff Big Brother has ever done and the start of the franchise's demise, and lead to where it is now, with cancellation. It has some very poorly thought out twists, too many late entrants, returning housemates, and it goes on too long. I'd still recommend watching it because as I say, the first six-eight weeks are near perfect entertainment. BB2 - Obviously an earlier series so not quite as over-the-top and in your face as the later series, but I still find it highly enjoyable. The series is more fun and I remember laughing lots watching this series back in 2001, and that was mainly down to Brian Dowling. It has some great housemates in the likes of Helen, Bubble, Paul and Narinder. The tasks are more basic and the twists are in their early form, but it is still a very good series. BB6 - I personally find this series too nasty. It's strength lies in two of the all time great housemates that lift this series placing up a notch. Most of the housemates are just horrible, unlikable people that you don't even love to hate, you just plain hate. Housemates such as Craig just make you want to reach for the off button. However, Makosi and Science are two of my personal all time favourites; they make the series watchable from start to finish with their antics, sometimes irritating but other times hilarious. There are also some great tasks this series. CBB3 - The second best Celebrity series. It takes a little while to get going but once it does it has some of the best BB moments ever. "Yeah Jackie" is probably all that needs to be said. Celebrity Hijack - Extremely underrated series. This came after the race-row incident in CBB5, and Channel 4 and BB were trying to lay low. So instead of a proper Celebrity series on C4, they had an experimental series on spin-off channel E4. The housemates were young, up and coming talents - musicians, dancers, politicians, acrobats, fashion desingers etc. The twist was that each day a Celebrity would take the role of Big Brother and set the housemates tasks and such. I really enjoyed this series, the Hijack element wasn't exactly that good (although a couple do make it very entertaining - such as Russell Brand), but it was the housemates that made it a joy to watch, the likes of Amy, Emilia, Jeremy and Victor. BB1 - It's the first series and that's why you should watch basically. You see where it all evolved from. Most of the housemates are very naive and don't really know what they've got themselves in to, and although it appears basic compared to the BB of now, it still has all the elements of relationships, arguments and nudity. And of course Nasty Nick. I'd watch all of those in that order. BB9 and BB10 have their moments and some good housemates, but they suffer from what most recent series suffer from, lack of imagination by the producers and tasks makers, and the series just going on too long. CBB5 might be worth a watch just because of the whole Jade/Shilpa race row, but it's not pleasant viewing. CBB6 is pretty boring, it has its moments, but its not one I'd rush to watch. I'd avoid BB4, BB8 and CBB2.

if you like nonstop fighting and drama 24/7 then id go for bbuk6, lol. they fight on the 2nd day, lol and it never stops. prob my fav and has a lot of
memorable characters. the people on their are really trashy and have like zero morals, lol. bbuk5 is good as well bc it has a mix of fighting and well some
SANE people as well, lol. def a good balance and mix. everyone always likes bbuk7 but i always found it a little boring and there was too much going on. it was
just this big epic that never ended but it has its moments but yeah UK5/6/7 are all good in their own way and iguess it depends on your preference and what you
can sit through. the tasks were pretty decent in all these three id say.
havent seen 3 yet but i heard it was just as good. everyone always tells me to avoid 8 and 4 so i never bothered.

BBUK 5 - Really great season from start to finish. I agree with whoever said that even the quieter housemates (Stuart, Shell) were still significant and
contributed to the storyline. Really great tasks and dynamic tension between the groups.
BBUK 6 - A lot of them are plain unlikeable (Saskia, Craig, Maxwell), but made up for with some excellent tasks (dog walking and box task, anyone?), and some truly fantastic characters in Makosi, Science, Derek, and Kamal. BBUK 10 - I know most people hate this season, but I actually kind of liked it a lot. Numerous storylines (as opposed to BB9's "Rex is an asshole" season-long storyline), and two truly Good TV housemates in Noirin and Bea. BB India 2 - I don't know if they have it anywhere with English subtitles so might be a problem to view it, but perhaps one of the strongest seasons of BB I've ever seen.

ISmileICrazy wrote:X (BB7UK btw) Honestly, if you want to watch nonstop trainwreck entertainment, just watch Nikki. Or even if you don't even want to watch the whole season, just search for Youtube clips of her shenanigans. Goodness knows there are probably hundreds of them ("I'm so cooooOOOoooOOOooOOOol-duh", Nikki discovering Dawn's B.O., Nikki working as a secretary, etc) |

Big Brother Brazil gets better with each season. BBB10 just started recently. There are rumors that the grand prize is R$10,000,000, which is equivalent to
aroun $6,500,000 here. :o

Watch:
BBUK5 BBUK6 BBUK7 Watch them in that order. I've also heard BBUK3 and BBAU3 are really good. If you want more BBAU, watch BBAU5 and BBAU8. If you want more BBUK, watch the Celebrity BBs from 3 onwards (the one with Brigitte Nelson). Do not watch BBUK4 or 8-10. The show really went down the crapper. Do not watch BBAU4. It was the worst BB I've ever seen. |

Out of the UK seasons, I'd recommend seasons 3,5,6 and 7. Seasons 1 and 2 are great, although they may seem a little dull compared to recent seasons. 4 and 8 are just awful; 4 because it's just dull and 8 because it's a pile of shit in every way. 9 and 10 are alright, but have a few flaws. Compared to older seasons they're not that great.
For the CBB's in the UK, seasons 3 and 4 are essential viewing. 5 can be very uncomfortable to watch and 6 is pretty dull bar a few moments. As for Australia, seasons 3,5 and 8 are the best. I would recommend watching those three at least. Some of the best BB's I've ever seen. |
