Tocantins has recently become one of my favorites. I just love the happy, uplifting vibe of the whole cast intro. The flickering/dancing flashes of the tribe names, the super slo mo cast shots, Taj's look of concern backed by an echoey "scream," Debbie's heroic birdlike shot, how Brendan's eyes lock onto the camera... and everyone else looks great too... very epic facial shots from Spencer, J.T., Erinn, Coach, Sierra and Candace. :)

I have to disagree. I have come to love many of the themes I hated (like Guatemala, etc...) But Tocantins and Gabon is one I cannot stand behind. The song is just way too slow and there is no crunch to it. Its just so bland. Although many of the intro shots in Tocantins looked awesome. I felt the whole video was bland. i loved the rain shots though.
Samoa is another theme I don't like. I don't hate it like I do Tocantins, but I don't like it either. It just sounds way to similar to Tocantins and it was also slow. My personal favorite in recent seasons have been Micronesia: fast, a lot of beats. intro shots of castaways were awesome, "39" days coconut awesome. and it just had a much more tropical feel to it.

I just hope the new theme+intro is good. Damn it , I hope Russell doesn't use anything from Gabon, Tocantins, or Samoa. I have a feeling he will though

You seem to have a bias against the location. "just had a much more tropical feel to it"? Eh, whatever. I love the striking oranges and browns of the desert, the glimmery murky browns and dark blues of the water, mixed with splashes here and there of the greenest of greens. All the scenic and fauna shots are more epic and crisply photographed than in any other season's intro, and while I agree the music doesn't knock you down with energy, I love the subtlety of the brewing clanks and clatter of the percussion, the warmth of the undercurrent of tribal grunts and cries given inflections of echoiness befitting the chasmic cliff-bordered nature of the environment, and the cheery, lively dance-like allure of the lead ancient-voices chanting girls.
