I like it...but it seems like it should be the theme for an asian season like India or something.

It isn't growing on me as fast as I had hoped, especially with high expectations for an anniversary theme. For me it fell short on the following:
1. The rattles. Again. For the 3rd straight time, only now it skipped the location chants and went directly into the... 2. The base chants, which sounded like someone accidentally slid the pitch controls to make it sound like male chanting. I just don't dig it, maybe not that right away. Repeating the first 1 or 2 verses had been used in Vanuatu and Guatemala (2nd episode onwards) in the past and they have been executed well. This is probably what Russ meant as the "wee twist". 3. "New" male and female layered chants. First time I heard the theme I knew I heard it somewhere else. To those who have the Tocantins soundtrack, check out the track "Carnival Brazil". 4. The supposed epic feel somehow pales in comparison with Micronesia's, and like the comments earlier, had a "whimsical, fairy-forest" twist due to the flutes and chimes/bells Now I'm dreading how it will be forced to be shortened in the succeeding episodes as the castaways dwindle in number... |

I agree. If I hadn't known any better I would have thought it was some really good fan-made theme for Survivor: India. It doesn't feel original, but spliced together. That would have been fine if he had gone in a full All-Stars direction and spliced noticeable elements from the past themes, but he didn't. It just doesn't feel dramatic, and if the intro shots they use are the ones from last night's retrospective (which were mostly physical challenge shots) it won't mesh well together.

not sure what to think of the theme yet. It sounds like the heroes will be introduced first, but I'm just guessing. I wish there was more of a contrast to highlight the theme of good vs. evil. |

he should have kept it in that minor key the whole time. the beginning is awesome, especially with the woman vocalist.

The last 10 seconds of the theme are way too not-epic enough...even the Samoa theme had a more epic ending.
Other than that, it's OK. I like the change in intensity where I assume the visual intro will switch from Heroes to Villains. |

I kinda like it. Not the best definitely, but it's good. Should be better in the actual intro.
Does anybody know where to find sheet music or a tutorial for the main theme on the piano? I might be able to play it. |

It's not bad. I wish it was a mix of past seasons like the first All Stars did

It's just alright. I agree with whoever said it just kinda sounds like a good fan-made theme.

Sounds like portions of old themes stuck together with bits of new.
First five secs - Tocantins drum roll thing + Borneo shell 9 secs - 15 secs - Sounds rather Palau-ish 15 - 20 secs - Pearl Islands 20 secs + is Fiji-ish-ness At the peak, you can hear a rather muted Tocantins/Cook Islands-ish flute (the part where Jerry on the Tocantins intro comes on). And the ending sounds similar to how they did for Micronesia. However, if based on the contrast adjusted shots from the Surviving Survivor episode, they might go alright together in the intro. |

I didnt like it that much. The beginning is creepy as fuck, and then it's just kinda meh. Micronesia was so epic with the horns, but this just lacks great quality.

For real? I love the Survivor theme and am disappointed but I'm also pretty positive it doesn't really matter that much.

Wow poody I've never seen you get this emotional about a theme song... you really hate it that much huh?
I actually like it... not a favorite, but listening to it a couple time I really notice some of the little "add-ons" that make it actually beautiful to listen to. Maybe this is the problem though, we didn't need beautiful... we needed strong epic music. Well whatever, would have made a nice theme for a stand-alone season, not an all-stars. |

The theme is good, def not the best. I feel like this theme just had so much potential (as did Samoa) and instead we get a decent theme which could have been one of th best. I was really hoping for a more powerful/aggressive theme for the villains balance out with a more smooth/soothing portion for the heroes. Oh well, nice job Russ.
