I meant to watch the ending yesterday so if they do a dedication, like they normally would - I bet there will be one today and every day for a long while.

I am on team Carly. Hope has been insufferable for the last couple of years now and even though I'm not a Carly fan I will still take her over Hope. This is exactly how I feel. Someone was asking the name of Julie's son. Her son is David. Scotty was David's dad. I think Mike Farrell might have played him at one point.... but I might be just delusional. lol David married Trish and they had a kid together, didn't they? Trish and Mike were teenage "first loves" though... wow. I miss the good old DAYS. |

Scott Banning was David's father. And yes, he was played by Mike Farrell from M*A*S*H.
David had a son with Trish named Scotty. After they aged him, he was played by Rick Hurst. How odd that of the three Horton sons, the only one whose portrayer is still living is the one who was killed off on the show. It's been a long time since Tommy Horton was even mentioned, and it would most strange for him to show up being played by a newcomer. The same thing goes for Bill. If the rumor is true, it would be most difficult accepting Stuart Damon in the role, especially when he is Mickey's brother, and Mickey was played by John Ingle, who was Damon's father on General Hospital. So... How many Hortons currently off the canvas will come back for Alice's memorial? - Marie Horton (Tom and Alice's daughter) - Jessica Fallon (Marie's daughter) - Joshua Fallon (Jessica's husband) - Nick Fallon (Jessica's son) - Tommy Horton (Tom and Alice's oldest son) - Sandy Horton (Tommy's daughter) - Steven Olsen (Addie's son/Julie's brother) - David Banning (Julie's son) - Scotty Banning (Julie's grandson) - Bill Horton (Tom and Alice's son) - Laura Horton (Bill's ex-wife) - Jennifer Rose Horton (Bill and Laura's daughter) - Jack Deveraux (Jennifer's husband) - Abby Deveraux (Jennifer and Jack's daughter) - Jack Deveraux (Jennifer and Jack's son) - Mike Horton (Mickey and Laura's son) - Jeremy Horton (Mike's son) - Melissa Anderson (Mickey and Maggie's adopted daughter) - Sarah Horton (Maggie's daughter with Neil Curtis, adopted by Mickey) - Shawn Brady (Bo and Hope's son) - Belle Brady (Shawn's wife) - Claire Brady (Bell and Shawn's daughter) That was from memory; did I forget any? |

I think you only forgot Lucas. He's was recently let go. Damon won't be playing Bill. Some governer who will probably get Nicole out of her prison term.
I'd say Marie, Nick (Maybe), Laura (Jamie Lynn Bauer), Jack & Jennifer (minus Abby. She`ll probably be babysitting Jack Jr), & Melissa will show up. The rest will probably be no shows. Hopefully I`m wrong. I`m sure the funeral will turn out to be Sami mourning Alice and the rest will all just be extras. |

The New York Times offers an obituary that's a fitting tribute to both Frances Reid and the character of Alice Horton, complete with a video capture from the first Days episode and a link to a tribute video.
![]() The video has a dreadfully annoying underscore, but the scenes are vintage. We'll be lucky to get any of these on the actual show.

Thanks for the obit and the Youtube --have been a fan of Alice since 1965 when I first started watching it as a kindergartner and I'd get home from school at noon and would watch it with my mother-my mother got me hooked on soaps at an early age--Days of Our Lives, The Doctors and Another World-- half hour formats back then so it wasn't such a time commitment to watch them--

My pleasure, dag. I was watching Days with the babysitter by age 4 and remember the half-hour format as well. Then Another World shot up to 90 minutes, and spun off into Texas, and The Doctors got moved to the a.m. Still remember Alec Baldwin as Billy and both Kim Zimmer and Kathleen Turner as Nola.
So, yeah, the loss of Frances Reid hits hard. It really is the end of an era, and I'm glad to see that her passing has made the national media. Hopefully the show will do right by her, but Ken Corday doesn't have much of a track record in honoring his parents' legacy. |

Statement from Ken Corday:
Veteran soap opera actress Frances Reid, 95, died Wednesday. Frances appeared for more than 40 years on the NBC daytime drama Days of Our Lives as Alice Horton, the matriarch of the show's pivotal family. Due to her declining health, she appeared on the show less and less though was referred to often by the other characters. Ken Corday, executive producer of Days of Our Lives released this statement, "This is a very sad day, indeed; not only for me personally, but for the 'Days of our Lives' family and the entire Hollywood community. From day one until she taped her last scene, Frances epitomized the past, present and future of the show. Frances was truly one of a kind. Her class cannot be matched and her shoes cannot be filled ... we will miss her all the rest of our days." |

Well, due to the snow smacking the DC area, I've been able to tune in to Days. What a mess. Nothing worth tuning into. I had read that Maggie was going to hit the bottle after Mickey's death, but I haven't seen her on the screen. Maybe she'll show up plastered at the upcoming wedding. Also wished Anna would have attacked EJ instead of backing down at his threats. Carly slipping on the ice and Victor calling her trash by the front door was a real low, though I suppose it was supposed to be kinda funny. Maybe I'm sensitive to slipping on ice after all the shoveling I've been doing lately

I've been watching old episodes of Another World on Hulu. Why can't today's writers tell triangles like the old days. The Frankie/Cass/Kathleen triangle is a such a great storyline and how triangles should be written.

maggie's storyline sucks. the falling off the wagon thing would have been excellent., but then again we would need good writers to handle it and Days just doesn't have what it takes.
Victor stepping over carly in the snow and picking up the newspaper made me LOL |
