Does taking home the $ really make one a winner? Look what it did to Aras!

Geez. That wouldn't be fair, would it? Maybe if the recruited mactors were made to understand good game play and the need to put their egos aside at FTC, we wouldn't have boring or undeserving winners.

But if Lynne simply can't help but recruit guys at bars that she'd like to fuck, they really should know what's up with Survivor. Todd was a real winner because he knew the game.

I think there were plenty of people from africa to pearl islands that were memorable AND more deserving of a spot. They just wanted a black woman AND a bitch. thats alicia. I guess the problem is that all stars isnt really all stars. Just like fans versus favs wasnt really fans versus favs and the same goes for heroes versus villians. the casting is just weird.

I'll admit I don't know about all of who is a recruit and who is a fan..but Todd was a great winner and it showed that he had watched the show. And at the Fiji reunion it didn't surprise me at all when I heard Earl hadn't watched the show

Lynne doesn't want to do any of the Cheeto-stained people who typically watch reality TV and the trolls at Sucks can't post <3 for ugly people. We have an conundrum. How do we get winners who or both deserving and beautiful? The only winner who fits both categories is Aras. So brilliant... so dreamy (at the time the show aired)...

It doen't really matter to me what people look like. Do I notice if someone is attractive? Of Course. But it's not why I tune in. I understand it may be an added bonus to cast good looking people but it's not worth sacrificing gameplay to do so

Yes, there are a few viewers who tune in to see the hot ladies in bikinis, but they had no trouble finding those girls before recruiting mactors, all that does is make their job easier. If you look at the fan favourites, a lot of the time they're not mactors but closer to the everyday person. Hatch, Sandra, Cirie, ect. Even Russell and Shambo if you look at Samoa. They were two of the least attractive people on the season, but they are the ones people remember, and they were the ones that the viewing audience was rooting for.

It bothers me that there are millions of people who might have great strategies we'll never see, social games we'll never see, physical games we'll never get to criticize... just because they really don't "belong on TV..." Survivor is really stretching the term "reality television," as casting people who look good in a swimsuit, while ignoring any other aspect, isn't why I tune in to the show. "I think I'd make a great constestant on Survivor because...." has transformed into "I'll be reading for the part of Bossy First Boot Contender #1 today..."

Winning is not the same as showing skill at the game though, and I hate when Probst or whoever gets all revisionist history because some idiot won. There's a lot of randomness about the finale that practically ensures bad players are on equal footing, and it might as well just be lotto at that point. I mean it can come down to a juror being the one influencing people from Sue Hawk to Erik Cardona. Or it might be a completely random event (Aras cutting his foot) suddenly finds himself a lot more relaxed and ready to deal with a jury. Still probably would have won, but it's undeniable his mood was better. So I think there can always be people who play way better to a point, but few ever have a lock on the final moments of the game. It's just up in the air and you've got to get to that point while hopefully not becoming the goat.
