Mister Yuck |
Watching Boys in the Band for the first time |
Lead | |
|
What I am, Michael, is a 32-year-old ugly, pockmarked Jew fairy. And if it takes me a while to pull myself together, and if I smoke a little grass before I get up the nerve to show my face to the world, it's nobody's god-damned business but my own. And how are you this evening?

Very well, thank you.
But really, who calls it "grass"?? |

I haven't seen it either. It sounds "fun".

You're a sad, pathetic man. You're a homosexual and you don't want to be, but there's nothing you can do to change it.

Well that was unnecessary and quite frankly, RUDE

No. I guess it came out on dvd a year ago and I didn't get around to watching it until now. Didn't most of these guys die of AIDS?

The ad the NY Times wouldn't run.

Well I was going to rent it from Netflix but I started watching it on YouTube and couldn't stop. So melodramatic but very good. I looked it up and 4 of the 9 actors died of AIDS, 1 died of cancer during the worst of the AIDS era but Wikipedia says his death was not AIDS related. The cowboy was the first to die and was cared for by the actor who played Emory (the super queeniest one) and his wife until his death. I think the defining gay movie when I was young was Longtime Companion. I wonder what the young gays of today will look back on fondly? High School Musical perhaps?

Boys in the band was very boring.
I prefer cute gay boys. Beautiful Thing and Trick come to mind. |

I guess at the time the cowboy guy was considered cute. After googling, I read that he was considered for the Ryan O'Neal role in Love Story. I thought that Donald was cute.

Emory - he's like a butterfly in heat...
Lot's of great one-liners in this movie. I think everybody in the cast died of aids, except the straight guy and the black guy. |
