252. Yau-Man Chan (Survivor: Micronesia - 18th Place)

Best Moment: Smashing Fairplay into a boat.

The biggest problem with All-Stars (and the thing I'm most afraid of in HvV) is that the players who come back often times wind up looking like shells of their former selves, either because they've changed, because the other players don't want them to repeat their awesomeness, or because the editors edit them differently (re: worse) because they play differently.  Yau-Man is a great example of this.  He was only around for three episodes, yet he sucked.  He managed to get the immunity idol on day one, but really, if he hadn't done that, Fairplay would've stayed in the game because he'd have to, being immune and all.  Who knows how the game would've changed?  JAYE's success is more likely though.  Then, despite being the most popular player from the post-ASS seasons, Yau-Man went under-the-radar and was basically not important until the third episode, when he stupidly refused to send himself or Cirie to Exile Island in search of the Idol and tried to push for Jonathan.  His alliance with Jonathan, while awesome, was the reason why Cirie didn't feel safe with him, and decided that he needed to go.  And at that point, things really did fall into the "we need to vote out X because of his past reputation" category and everyone took him out.  He didn't even get a confessional in his boot episode and it was pathetic.


251. Tina Wesson (Survivor: All-Stars - 18th Place)

Best Moment: Can't think of one.

This should make a lot of people happy since there's this random backlash against Tina just for deciding that Jerri and Jerri's alliance were bad people (Hint: They were, but that made Jerri great).  Anyway, Tina came back to the game as one of the best winners ever up to that point in time, and she was placed on a tribe with fellow winner Ethan, along with Jerri who hates her, and Jenna Lewis, who desperately wanted to vote outthe winners because heaven forbid they have a chance just like everyone else.  It all came down to Rupert and Rudy, and neither of them has a strong history of working with younger guys as allies...so I'm gonna blame Ethan for the fact that those two wouldn't team up with the former winners.  Anyway, Tina basically had a ton of disadvantages going into the game, given that she was considered one of the best, thus having a target on her back, and she didn't have the physical ability that Ethan had to make herself seem more valuable.  In the end, she got voted out and Jerri got revenge on everyone who fucked her over, but at least Tina didn't take it too hard.  She knew she wasn't going to last long, so at least she wasn't bitter.  That's kind of the problem.  As I said with Yau-Man, Tina came off as a shell of her former self.  She didn't really care and didn't try too hard to keep herself in the game until it was too late.  It's a shame, but it doesn't make her a good character.


250. Jessica deBen (Survivor: Fiji - 19th Place)

Best Moment: Can't think of one.

Her lazy eye freaks me the fuck out.  Anyway, I think Jessica really suffers from the fact that Cook Islands came right before Fiji.  It's like, the casting sucked SO bad for the minority tribes and was so great for the white tribe, that when Fiji came around, they had to find some way to make sure a white person didn't win without having to resort to rigged twists.  So as a result, they cast white players who were very unlikely to succeed, including UTR Jessica, fat old Gary, quitting Melissa, asshole Rocky, and Superboo.  Jessica started off by forming an alliance with fellow whitey Rocky.  This was short-lived as everyone began to hate on her during the challenge, and it helped that Ravu was sexist as hell.  So despite having a three-person alliance...that's not the majority in a tribe of nine.  And rather than actually standing up and fighting for his supposed ally, Rocky (and Erica, but Erica is awesomer, so I blame Rocky) wound up casting a throwaway vote in order to keep himself clean while still basically letting Jessica go out.  What ranks Jessica so low is being dull and boring and being an early boot...and STILL aligning herself with an asshole like Rocky.  If her first-boot status is disappointing to her, it's her own damn fault for aligning herself with the biggest camera-hogging asshole ever (until Russell 5 seasons later).


249. Morgan McDevitt (Survivor: Guatemala - 17th Place)

Best Moment: Can't think of one.

Morgan had potential in that she had an interesting career...but then again, so did Denise and John K.  Still, you'd think a magician's assistant would have some semblance of showmanship, which Morgan didn't.  She was just a really creepy-looking blonde girl (She actually looks more anorexic than Courtney Y.) who really gained some weight when she came back the next season as Melinda, and who wound up sitting around camp and not doing a whole lot of work.  She was in a majority alliance (but then again, so was Brianna), yet in spite of Lydia being one of the physically weakest competitors of all time, Morgan was voted out by her own allies because she was considered to lazy to keep around camp.  And honestly, if you're targetted SPECIFICALLY because of laziness, then you've really got a problem with your gameplay.  Hell, her boot was unanimous, too.  No one felt like sticking up for her and even throwing a vote at someone else, despite her having been in the majority alliance.  I guess the plus side is that, since she was so boring, we didn't have to waste a lot of the season wondering why the hell she was even cast.  God, Guatemala had such an amazing boot order if you forget about Cindy.
