I'm at the point where I'm starting to hope the ratings go to shit (well...even more to shit)

In all honesty, I want the show to go on, but it deserves to get canceled, the way Mark Burnett has been handling it for the past 5 years. An utter DISGRACE. I always delusionally have hope that we'll have a good season, but we never get it.

Heroes vs. Villains, the themed upcoming season of Survivor, begins next week. Go Colby! Good I'm pretty sure CBS didn't spend 200k to make the clip show so its a good rating |

This should be wayyy better than Survivor: All-Stars.
Competition should be better! |

From TVByTheNumbers regarding the clip show:
CBS was dragged down a bit by the Surviving Survivor special at 8, which had a 2.3 rating. When Survivor premieres next week, the competition will not get off nearly so easily. |

Based on time-zone adjusted (but still preliminary) fast nationals, Super Bowl XLIV averaged over 106 million (106.5 million) viewers and overtook the 1983 series finale of M*A*S*H (105.97 million) to become the most-watched program of all time. Update: Time Zone adjusted number for Undercover Boss are in, it averaged 38.6 million and was the most-watched post Super Bowl show since 2001. Super Bowl XLIV destroyed previous Super Bowl viewing records with 106.48 million average viewers and even overtook the series finale of M*A*S*H (105.97 million) as the most-watched program of all-time. |

That could have been us you stupid mother fuckers who were like "i don't want it that late because I have to work the next day." Now we're just hoping for 14-15 million as opposed to having potentially 40 million viewers... UGH.

I definitely think CBS dropped the ball by not having their main attraction in it's 10th year as the SB slot. If they wanted to revive ratings, this was the year to do it. However, maybe in 21 or 22 they'll do it, which will bring fresh faces and maybe get people hooked to watching future seasons (rather than simply watching to see Jerri, Rupert, etc then not wating 21/22)

How do you know CBS will have the Superbowl next year?

Also, this was our only shot... it's the last time we'll have a full all-stars season for a long ass time. Maybe for Survivor 30 we can hold out hopes if CBS has the superbowl again. *eyes* Plus this season we have all the most popular people back, by sheer miracle, AND we know it will be a fantastic season as everyone "in the know" is saying... this blows. |

Mypoody2 wrote: The logic behind your bitching makes no sense. Firstly, for the first time ever, the viewers are being treated to a 2 hour premiere. That wouldn't have happened if the HvV premiere was given the post-Super Bowl spot. Secondly, Survivor was already renewed, 2 weeks ago, for 2 more cycles. So, fans of the show have already gotten the best that they could hope for, an extended premiere and renewal for 2 more seasons, without requiring the post-Super Bowl spot. Besides, the only reason that the ratings for Undercover Boss were so high is because people are too lazy to change the channel or turn the set off once the Super Bowl is finished. I'd be surprised if Undercover Boss even pulls in 15 million the first time that it airs in its regular time since there was still quite a drop off. As a fan, I could give a crap whether or not Survivor has the same # of viewers as it did during seasons 3-10, just as long as it does well enough to get renewed. With other forms of viewing that weren't common during the early seasons such as TIVO and the Internet there is no way that any season will regularly draw 20 million viewers. TV viewing levels are down for all shows all across the board.

Epicfail in CBS' part. I know they have to promote a new show but this is the 10th year of Survivor - it should've been post-Superbowl. Fail.
