Agreed that Alex's speech is an epic fail. As you said in the Eliza write up, a lawyer should be able to do better. Alex's was awful on so many levels. And beyond that, I think if he had given a jury speech that had shown intelligence and self-awareness, he would be remembered quite differently. Alex did have some good moments during the season where he seemed to be the only one who had a clue what was going on in a sea of idiots. I think if his jury speech had been different we would have remembered him more positively.
Similarly I think Sierra would have been remembered better if her speech had not been a trainwreck.
Tom's speech at 2nd worst, and Lex and Kathy right after, all excellent placements to me, too. The disappointment of not seeing what we loved about these characters was sealed in those moments. We did have a lot of fun Tom during the season, but then he sank so low at FTC (and can't he be a little older and wiser? isn't laughter supposed to be good for the spirit?).That speech helped seal ASS's fate of horrible-ness. Total cringe world.
My only disagreement is Alicia. It was annoying surrounded by so many other bitter speeches, but I think if it had been one of a few bitter speeches its awesome-ness would have stood out more--the hand on the hip finger waving, the outclass line. Some good stuff there.
So happy you are ranking again! Thank you!
