Equally vexing was their decision to kick a 50-yard field goal on what appeared to be an increasingly slippery field with the elder Matt Stover. Just prior to that, on the same drive, they went for it on 4th down. Why would they not do the same in a situation that would give the Saints even worse field position given a failure to convert on the part of the Colts?

Did Peyton run off the field without shaking anyone's hand? Let's see him get raked over the coals and crucified like Belichick.
Oh, wait, since it's not the Patriots, it probably won't even be mentioned. |

Phil Ivey should have picked the Saints. lol Colts money line
Who Made Biggest Super Bowl Bet? Phil Ivey (Duh)Posted by Brooks on Feb. 07, 2010, 4:43pm Matt Youmans of the LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL has an update on the big ballers’ Bowl betting.
Ivey of course is reknowned as the world’s best poker player, but he’s also well-known for his enthusiasm for all manner of games of chance. Including sports betting. If you haven’t seen this ESPN feature on Ivey, watch it. It’s a little puffy for my taste, but still interesting stuff |

Phil Ivey shouldn't have played like a nit at the final table of the WSOP

A Bartholomew wrote:You're retarded. And if you're referring to the hand where he laid down pocket jacks, then yea, poker seems easier on tv with hole cards being shown. He had a 15-20 bb stack the whole final table. He had pocket kings and his all-in didn't get called by someone else raising pocket tens getting almost 2-1 (they didn't show that hand on tv). How goes the sit n goes abart? Still angry at the random number generator on stars? |

Ivey was pathetic laying down JJ, he played like a scared little girl
He's like Peyton Manning under pressure, during the regular season it's all well and good, but when crunch time comes, he pees down his leg |

If I had a million to lay down on a sports bet I would be smart about it and bet on a minor leagueish sport and then pay someone off to set in the fix to gurantee my investment. These poker players are tards.

I'm sad for Peyton but very happy for the Saints, their long suffering fans, and especially the very likeable Breesus who hasn't received nearly enough credit as he deserves for being an elite qb.
as for Sean Payton, after losing in the sb w/ the Giants as OC, I'm glad he won a ring. that onside kick was the ballsiest coaching move in sb history - Payton has the guts of a gambler. Saints defense played great but what surprised me was the Colts play-calling throughout the game. the three running plays at the end of the first half (apparently Manning took a page out of Norv Turner's playbook), Caldwell deciding to kick a 51 yd fg on grass (lmao), and Manning calling a running play on 3rd & goal w/ less than a minute left (wtf? for a guy who has earned the reputation as being the smartest qb ever, that sure was a ridiculous call) I don't want to hear about Manning being better than Montana or Brady for that matter. Montana/Brady were clutch in the 4th qtr of every sb game they participated in (yeah I know Brady lost his last sb but he led his team down the field to take the lead and his offense didn't have enough time after the Giants scored) to be fair to Manning, Wayne hung him out to dry on that pick-six since he was slow coming out of that route (maybe his injury was worse than reported?) and Garcon had a huge drop on 3rd down in the first half. anyway, the great Brady and the great Peyton Manning have lost two of the last 3 years in the sb. what happened to the mighty afc? NFC OWNAGE |

The upstart AF1 has signed a television deal with the NFL Network, giving the nascent indoor football league an instant dose of credibility. The deal is a one-year agreement, with another one-year option. Terms call for AF1 to sell the advertising inventory, with the indoor league and the NFL Network evenly splitting all revenue. The NFL Network will provide the on-air talent. The league’s games will be aired live on Friday nights from 8 to 11 p.m. ET beginning April 2 through the league’s championship game in late August. The AF1 game on April 23 will be pre-empted by the network’s draft coverage. Charles Coplin, vice president of programming for the NFL, said the deal made sense for the NFL Network, which has expanded beyond NFL programming by covering college football games. “We embrace football at all levels,” Coplin said. “This spring schedule gives us a weekly live game featuring some players who may eventually play in the NFL.” The NFL Network also was attracted by the AF1’s spring schedule, which comes at a relatively down time for the NFL, with no live games. “They are playing at a time where it made perfect sense for our schedule,” Coplin said. The NFL Network has not made any decisions on the talent it will use or on any shoulder programming it may produce. “Right now, the focus is just on the games,” Coplin said. “We’ll get back from South Florida and look at whether there’s anything to do around it.” Coplin said the deal does not hint at a larger working relationship between the two football leagues. “This is a programming deal between the NFL Network and [AF1] to cover their games,” he said. “The programming made sense to us. The economics made sense to us. It’s not indicative of a larger or broader relationship. This deal is very consistent with how we’ve programmed the network from the beginning.” The deal is expected to be officially announced in mid-February. The 15-team league, which was created this year after the assets of the former AFL were sold out of bankruptcy, also is expected to be rebranded as the AFL before the start of the season. AF1 Commissioner Jerry Kurz would not comment specifically on the television deal. “We are pleased with where we are and we are about to announce a national game of the week arrangement,” Kurz said. |

I'm sad b/c his critics have every reason to criticizing him again for not being clutch in the big game.
he's played in two sbs and didn't have a great, memorable performance in either one of them. it kinda hurts his legacy. kudos to Breesus for performing better on the big stage than Peyton and Favre ever had. |
